Is there really no way to deliver an ePub book from a Windows pc??

Just a few minutes ago I completed setting up an iTunes Store account to sell ebooks on the iBookstore, and felt good about being finally set to proceed after waiting two weeks to get them to clear my application. So, then I looked for how to submit my content, started to download iTunes Producer, then realized it was the .dmg and stopped to go find the Windows way to deliver the book(s)...and there isn't one!?

This can't be right, is it? I can understand if there's no Windows version of Producer, but I don't find even a hint of another way way to deliver content to the iBookstore. With a world full of Windows users (yes, I know...Apple rules), surely there's some way to submit content isn't there.

Anyone know the answer?

Thanks,

Not yet. I used it only for iOS development for my Masters of Computer Science course.

But I just contacted them about signing up to use it for 1 month again so I can upload my book. I have poor internet access right now at a hotel though. Flaky internet is one of the downsides of any cloud tool.

I will provide an update on whether there are any catches. One thing I wonder is this: Will I be able to install the iBook app with the cheapest service plan?

Thanks, that will be useful to know. The iBooks Author app does not produce epub, if that makes a difference. It produces a special format which can only be read on an iPad or a Mac running OS 10.9. The Apple app for creating epub is Pages.

I have the ePub created already. I used Sigil.

I just need to upload my ePub to Apple. MacInCloud has three apps pre-installed it looks like.

  • iBooks Author and Book Proofer
  • iAd Producer
  • iTunes Producer

I don't see Pages on the list.

So I ended up going with the $30 pay as you go option with MacInCloud.

MacInCloud sent me a servername, username, and password and an easy RDP file I could double-click on to connect remotely from windows.

I logged in.

I configured Dropbox, so my files would transfer over.

I waited a bit for Dropbox to sync. Note: I did edit Dropbox to only copy my writing folder.

I then opened iTunes Producer.

I filled out the information and submitted my book.

So yes, I can now say I used this method.

My book is now in the Manage Your Books section.
