iMovie needs music - where can I get it?

I have discovered the convenience of iMovie and now it finally handles full HD, I no longer have to wrestle with Final Cut. Great.

What I would like though is to have some advise on good music which I can download from iTunes or so to use for the home movies... just want to know if there is music which is kinda made for this... what's is is personal of course, but looking for albums of any genre aimed at Movie making.

Many thanks!

that's what this music mostly is produced for.

That's not entirely true.

FreePlay offers (relatively) low license fees in hopes that their music will be used in movies, television, radio etc. because, as publishers, they make money (as do the authors) on the back end through royalties collected and distributed ASCAP and BMI.

There was no such thing as YouTube when FreePlay was offering their tracks for personal use through what was then called iTools. Things have changed a lot since then. People are now making money through videos they post on YouTube and, unfortunately, those truly posting as a means of showing friends and family are caught in the crossfire.

I understand your frustration and wish you the best!

Thanks, AppleMan1958. Those links have some relevant information and more good links.

The situation becomes weird when YouTube after I disputed a case reinstates their claim with serious threats. But I can now rephrase my disputes with the right words. It simply is not acceptable that YT removes claims from one claimant only to put another claim on it from an other claimant. They can go on indefinitely.

I always use CreativeCommons music and always mention the maker and the title of the music. That has not stopped YouTube from putting claims on this CC music. They were forced to remove several claims after the makers themselves intervened on my behalf.

Apple could simply issue a general warning to YouTube that YT should not reinstate claims on Apple's free music. That certainly would help a lot to stop YouTube from abusing copyright claims.
