I broke my ipod 4th Gen touch screen. How much is it to repair and where in the UK?

Theres many threads about this but in my opinion, I rather start a new discussion than read another thread.

Scenario

The floors in my bedroom is removed since next week I will be getting new floors, the floor at the moment is concrete. The ipod fell accidently and I didn't see no problem, after 5-10 minutes I noticed it. I have a screen protecter, so it reduced the damage of the ipod. The ipod is still working fine, the screen is fine, its just cracked. Its cracked on the top of the ipod; on the left and a little bit on the right.

I done some research but it didn't fulfill my answers.

Those who live in the UK; should I go to HMV and fix it there?

How much is it to repair it in £?

Is it true that if you go to an Apple store, they can repair it for free?
