iTunes Match incomplete/cut off songs

After having completed the upload process, some of the songs that I listen to on my ios5 devices aren't complete, half way through the song it starts playing the next song, but according to the devices it's still playing the 1st song. This happens to both the iPad 1 & 3, and my iPhone. The original songs are complete on my computer, and there wasn't any issues with the upload. I've even waited for the full albumn to download before begining to play a song, and I still get the same issue. How can I fix this?

I recently uploaded brand new music to the cloud. Only 4 days ago. When downloaded these songs to my iPhone, some songs cut out and overlap.

You are saying however, that if I remove my ENTIRE LIBRARY from the cloud and re-upload / match my songs, then they will download to my device perfectly? If so, where is the logic in this, if songs I uploaded to the cloud 4 days ago don't work properly?

I want to be sure of this before I do this. In a few global markets including mine, Australia, downloading and uploading has monthly limits, and when I uploaded / matched my music collection originally (which was supposed to be a one-off) it certainly took more than one night.

Hi,

Do the recently added song play ok on your computer? If so, the problem is not with your iTunes library. Therefore I don't think you need to delete your library and scan all over again.

If you had to do a rescan, the process would be a lot quicker than the original scan. Match will remember tracks previously uploaded files and will not go through this procedure again.

If you are only having problems with the new additions, try deleting them from library and cloud then readding them to your library and add to cloud.

This looks like a specific issue with your iPhone, suggest a full restore then complete these steps:

On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.

Tap the iTunes Match switch to set it to ON.

To access your music in iCloud, open the Music Player app on your device. It may take a few minutes for your iTunes Match library to appear on your device depending on your Internet connection, and how large your iTunes Match library is. You may see an iCloud icon with a progress bar while your device syncs with iTunes Match.

A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your device.

Important:

  • When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
  • Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
  • By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is not enabled. To enable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Use Cellular Data > On.

Hi

I appreciate the suggestion but it's not a hardware issue with the iPhone. I have restored several times, and deleted and redownloaded the music, switched Match off and on many times, and recently had my iPhone replaced (due to an unrelated hardware fault), and it still has the issue. Therefore I would certainly say it's an issue with the Match system itself. Other users' experiences in other similar support threads also point to this.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

There are many ways to end up with apparent iTunes Match issues, a few are recognised and take time for Apple to resolve or remain as outstanding known issues.

This one was solved by Apple a long time ago. It will be an issue with your IOS device, by completing a full restore and following the steps given above to correctly enable iTunes Match it will resolve.

Best of luck, do report back on progress - if you still hit a wall of some sort, explain the exact steps you've taken and exactly what you see - we can usually work through the issue from there or confirm if it is a known problem.

With syncing directly with the computer the songs are fine. This is only when using iTunes Match. However one of the reasons that I pay for Match is to have access to my full collection on the go from the cloud, even if my entire collection exceeds the 64GB of my iPhone memory.

There appear to be several threads out there with many users with this as an unresolved issue, and these are the ones who bother to post.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any evidence of action taken by Apple to prevent this happening, or a fix.

Ok, so we know the Songs play correctly both on the computer and via Sync on the iPhone.

Suspect corruption of iTunes Match on iPhone, to resolve complete the following steps:

i. Connect iPhone via wired link to Computer, open iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/)

ii. Navigate to iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes

iii. Delete these 3 files:

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

iv. Perform a hard reboot on the iPhone (home button + sleep/wake button, hold until you see the Apple logo)

(Note: Equivalent tools to iExplorer that allow iPhone file navigation would also work)

This will force iTunes Match to rebuild its database on the iPhone.

The problem is 100% NOT the ios device. If you read above, everyone has tried restoring their phones, and I can attest that it doesn't fix the problem. It is sound logic, but it just plain doesn't work. I personally struggled a year and a half restoring he phone and fixing everything that should have worked. The ONLY fix is deleting the iCloud library. iCloud does NOT keep a memory of the songs. When they purchases are hidden and the previously stored songs are deleted, then the iCloud is manually re-added completely, the songs will magically work. I am a programmer, but I do not know why it works. Luckily i had the whim to try this last thing, and found out it works. It does not follow logic. It just works. I'm only trying to help because it is frustrating to see you struggle with the same issue that ****** me off for so long, and I spent hours and hours trying to fix. I will let you know if the fix fails, but so far I am still golden.
