iTunes Match incomplete/cut off songs

After having completed the upload process, some of the songs that I listen to on my ios5 devices aren't complete, half way through the song it starts playing the next song, but according to the devices it's still playing the 1st song. This happens to both the iPad 1 & 3, and my iPhone. The original songs are complete on my computer, and there wasn't any issues with the upload. I've even waited for the full albumn to download before begining to play a song, and I still get the same issue. How can I fix this?

Found a solution!

PROBLEM: Ripped CDs play fine on the source machine, they will stream and download to other machines via iTunes Match, but they either: A) play partially on iOS, then go silent, or B) play and then jump to the next track while displaying the prior track. Very annoying.

WORK AROUNDS: A) Manage Muic without iTunes Match via USB cable or B) Download the tracks... they will still fail in iOS Music app, but they will play in Amazon Cloud Player app.

CAUSE?: I think the mischief begins by adding songs to iTunes by drag-and-drop or by having the iTunes Match scan in iTunes interrupted.

SOLUTION: What worked for me is the following:

1) Back up for safety.

2) Have an empty trash can... that makes it simple.

3) Locate the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder at the root level of your iTunes folder.

4) Delete the tracks from iTunes with the option+delete method and tick the "Remove from iCloud option." Have the tracks put into the trash can.

5) Quit iTunes

6) Open the "Automatically Add..." folder.

7) Move the tracks from the trash can to the "Automatically Add.." folder.

8) Restart iTunes.

9) Let iTunes do it's match thing, which may take a while. Do something else while it's running. Read a book, volunteer at an animal shelter.

<time passes>

10) Check out the new tunes on your iOS device. They play now!

Hooray!

iTunes match is not the issue, i turned off itunes match and i'm still having issues with songs cutting off in itunes at random parts even though the song is a full file. I've tried all of the suggested workarroundss and am still getting cut off songs. I get free music from noisetrade almost daily and now i can't play half of it. This is so lame! I'll be in touch with Apple soon either via phone or genius appointment so i'll update the thread with their respose.

the cut off problem has been going on for years. WHERE ARE YOU APPLE ON THIS? you constantly boast about your sales/number of songs sold but your system has/is damaging or preventing users from playing paid music. YOU NEED TO DIRECTLY ADDRESS THIS. beyond frustrating to see years of posts and people taking stabs at fixes but still no real resolution. use all that expensive silicon engineering brainpower and fix what you are so brilliantly packaged, marketed and profited from. AND PLEASE, LET US KNOW IT IS DONE.

This solution (workaround) has been offered several times here but I finally sat down today and just bit the bullet. It was painful, but it absolutely resolved my problem. I think the problem could be a resident issue in the version of iTunes that was used when Match was first turned on. The songs that were evaluated where somehow contaminated and there very well may be nothing Apple can do about it. This issue has affected matched, uploaded and purchased content for me, so it has nothing to do with how or when the music was added to my library.

Anyway, this is what I did and now all of my songs play all the way through on my iPhone. I'm including some additional details to hopefully save you some headaches I had going through this process.

Prep:

  1. Go through your Library and make sure you have all your music downloaded and "located". Scroll through your song list and check for little circles w/ exclamation marks, iCloud errors or music that hasn't been downloaded. Make sure you correct/adjust/download as needed so you have all your music downloaded.
  2. Make a backup copy of your iTunes Music folder. This is imperative as you will need this to restore from later in the process. You do not need to copy your entire iTunes folder, although it's okay if you do. The folder you need to copy is in iTunes\iTunes Media\Music. Copy that folder.
  3. Export all your playlists. The playlists won't be deleted during this process, but when you delete all your music the songs will be deleted from the playlists.

Deleting all your songs:

  1. Select all of the songs in your library. Do not select iTunes LP, PDF or Music Videos. Select ONLY songs. The iTunes LP, PDF and Music Videos are not affected and if you delete them you will not be able to get them back into iCloud.
  2. Right-click on the songs and select Delete. When prompted:
    1. Check "Also delete this from iCloud", click Delete
    2. Select "Move to Recycling Bin" or trash or whatever
  3. When iTunes is finished deleting your songs, click File -> Add Folder to Library
    1. Browse to your back up copy of your Music folder you made under Prep Step 2
    2. Allow iTunes to add all your music back into your library
    3. Wait for it to finish before you continue

Clean up:

  1. iTunes Match will pretend to run, but it won't really. To get it to run, click Store -> Update iTunes Match
  2. Wait for Match to finish
  3. Go to your Songs and sort by iCloud Status
  4. Look for songs labeled as "Duplicate"
    1. Sometimes iTunes Match will flag a song as a duplicate even though the same song is in your Library for two different albums
    2. If this happens, right-click on the affected song and select Add to iCloud
  5. Click Store -> Update iTunes Match again to get your duplicate songs uploaded and/or matched
  6. Import your playlists. It's easier if you delete the old ones before importing the ones you exported. If you don't you'll end up with duplicate playlists.

It's a giant pain in the rear. It took me hours to do this. However, I'm happy I finally sat down and got it done as all of the songs I was having problems with play perfectly. The only side effect I've noticed is that all the content I purchased is now labeled as either "Matched" or "Uploaded" as opposed to "Purchased", but I don't see how that means anything.

Hope this is helpful.

Many of the problems seem to be PC to Mac, but I'm all Apple devices. All I want is to create playlists in iTunes, sync it to my iPods, and have the songs play in their entirety. If I make an appt at the store, will they know how to make that happen without my having to mess with work-arounds?? Seems that it should be so simple, but...! Willing to buy another new iPod, but after reading all here, don't think that will fix the problem...or will it??

Thank you, all you much more proficient people!!
