Blank Mail messages

I keep old messages in Mailboxes. They are listed there with full details of From, To, Subject, Date, no. of attachments and size... but, when I want to look at the messages, they are totally blank.

I have Mail 3.6 on a MacPro with OSX v10.5.8. The "blank" messages (and Mailboxes) will have been created in earlier versions of Mail and an earlier OS.

Please can anyone help?

BDAqua,

- if you are still around 2 years later 😉 - I just wanted to say thank you for the advice given in this thread.

I've just had a very similar probelm - 1 folder of emails disappeared completey. I followed your instructions given in the post on Apr 2, 2012 1:09 PM. and everything is back where it should be. 🙂

One question : I am left with the folder "com.apple.mail" and the file "envelope index" sitting on my desk top; can I safely delete them or should I put them back where they were? 😕
