Macbook Pro and Powerpoint (Yechhh)

I've been using my MacBook Pro (2.0) for a few days. Powerpoint is just unacceptably slow. It takes a long time to open up and then usability is low. There is a horrible latency when typing in a text box. Doing any action takes at least twice as long as Powerpoint on the old Powerbook (which was not all that fast). Its bad enough that I am considering returning my MacBook. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm not holding my breath that Microsoft will release a universal version of Office soon so this is a killer concern for me. I also tried to convert existing Powerpoints to Keynote 3 and it crashes if the Powerpoint is over 300k (which nearly every file is). I'm very frustrated - any help out there???

It is NOT just you. I've had a Macbook for almost a month now and every time I save a Powerpoint file -- even when it autosaves -- takes about 45-60 seconds. I thought it might be a corrupt file or something, so I deleted the pre-installed version & re-installed the version that runs normally on my G4. Though it runs well on the G4, it is still intolerably slow on the Macbook. Tried to work it out with AppleCare & had no luck. The tech said that they may need to update the software for compatibility with the new intel chips. Be on the lookout for new versions or patches . . . .

Use iRed
Lite
. It works great for PowerPoint and anything
else you might want to control with the Apple Remote.

Is there any way that you can post the directions on how to set up iRedLight to work with PowerPoint? Or better yet is there a file you can post somewhere or that I can find somehwere? I downloaded iRedLight and can see where they reference how to set up PowerPoint in their documentation, but I can't seem to figure out how to program it.

Thanks

Could someone steer me to a fix. I have a Macbook Pro, 1.5GB, 2GH machine that until today was working perfectly. I attempted to open a Powepoint document emailed to me and I get "The Application Powerpoint quit unexpectedly". None of my other MS Office 2004 apps have this problem and if I use a "guest" user login, PowerPoint starts and seems to work just fine. So it would appear that something within my account is bad. I have done the reinstall, disk verify, and permissions thing, but it still fails. I get the small logo window with my owner name and the product code and immediately following that I get the quit window with a choice to notify Apple or restart or quit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks beforehand....
