Way to back up iPhone contacts without iTunes/iCloud?

Hi, I have iPhone of the first generation and have recently bought a new 4S. How can I back up my old iPhone contacts to my PC and then transfer them to my new iPhone?

I obviously cannot use the iCloud with the old iPhone. I also do not want to sync the iPhone with iTunes in order to transfer the contacts to the PC since I am on a new laptop and the music on the iPhone will get deleted during sync with my new empty iTunes library. I am getting a similar message each time I want to transfer the contacts over to my computer via iTunes sync:

Backup iPhone Contacts to Your Email

Apart from iCloud, Apple also gives you the power to backup contacts to some email address, like Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, Exchange, and others. The tutorial to backup iPhone contacts to email is almost the same. Thus, I just take backing iPhone contacts to Exchange as an example.

Step 1. Go to Settings on your iPhone. Find Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Step 2. Click Add Account…. Then, you will find many email address are available. Tap Exchange.

backup contacts from iphone

Step 3. Fill out the information about your name, email account, passwords and description.

Step 4. Tap Next. Make sure contacts icon is turned on. Then, click Save to save your iPhone contacts to Exchange.

If you don't want to backup your contacts to iTunes or iCloud, you can save them to Gmail account. Even though it requires iTunes, it is quick and simple way to backup iPhone contacts on the web is to export them to Gmail. For that, you can use iTunes. Select "Info," "Sync Contacts With," "Google Contacts." After you click "Configure," add your Google username and password and click "Apply," your contacts are exported directly to your Gmail account.

I think Alice method is better, since Google has its own contacts now.
Probably iCloud to iTunes would be a good opinion too.
