Purchase in bulk for school?

I'm starting a multimedia class next year at the middle school where I teach and am putting together a "Mac Lab" for the class. We'll be using the iMacs for video capture/editing, yearbook, and Photoshop work. Anyone have any ideas on where to start looking for discounts on bulk purchases like this? I'd appreciate any help...

p.s. - I've heard iMac is due for an upgrade some time in the coming months so I know we may be better off waiting a bit. Just wanted to know where to start. Thanks gang!

If you have a district technology coordinator s/he probably knows your school's education representative. If not, use this linkto start the process of getting a quote from Apple. While most software developers also have education representatives I generally buy from a distributor's education specialists. It is one stop shopping and can save on shipping. (The prices are almost always identical.)

Your school probably works on a July 1 - June 30 fiscal year and chances are the purchases will be shifted to next year's budget (if your district is like the ones I work for) so there's little need to worry about what Apple is going to do in the next 3 months. Whatever happens, prices are likely to stay pretty much the same.

You can also call 800-800-2775 to speak with Apple Education Sales. Inside sales can help you or, if you need signficant consulting, put you in touch with your district's account executive.

Note that they will not be able to tell you about any unannounced Apple products, so you'll have to guess as to whether, and how long, to wait.

Regards.
