Transfer apps bought on another account

Is there a way to transfer paid apps between an iPad on one account and an iPhone on another without copying the IPA from the iTunes folder?

Example: I copied Star Walk from my iPhone to my brother's iPad, and authorized it using my password by copying the IPA from my iTunes to his. Is there a way to do that without iTunes, using only the 2 iDevices?

I would like to be able to do the same thing. I auto upgraded to the new GetGlue app (and it's free so there is no concept of "stealing" here). The new version ***** - all it allows you to do now is check in to TV shows. I want to revert to the pre-August version. I do not have an iTunes backup to revert to. I had a friend send me the old 2.3.xx version but since it is tied to his account, my iTunes won't let me install it. I'd love a way to revert to the past version of GetGlue. I don't care if it's from my friends ipa or another method, I need to roll back to the previous version that I once had on my iPad. Is there any way to do this?

I just wanted to post back at Demo and rbrylawski - you guys should stop trolling around. All you are doing is instigating something non-existant. OP never said he wanted to do anything illegal, yet you used harsh language against the OP. From what I understand OP did NOT know it was not legal. Without even hearing him/her out, you assumed he/she was a thief, that's absurd. If you don't have anything useful to add to the community, at least refrain from insulting evey new member you come accross. GET A LIFE, both of you!

I could some assistance as well. I have closed an old iTunes account completely and opened a new one. the old account is no longer active anywhere except on my iPhone where I have apps that I have downloaded with the old account. I now only use this new acccount and can't even update my old apps because when I do I have to log in with that account but can't since it's closed...

Is there a way for me to transfer my purchases to this new account since the old one has been closed?

I think there are real honest use cases to solve this apps transfer issue between accounts:

I'll give you mine:

We have been an Apple home for many years and my kids just turned 15.

we've always bought all apps and music under my account and used the shared ID.

Lately (iOS6/ iPhone 4+5) they have linked chat/IMS to thesse accounts. And after doing the major upgrades and installs of new phones, I started seeing complete Im conversations of my daughter on my iPad ......

Because all the phone numebrs are connected to this account ...

So to separate this I would like to give us all separate accounts. And since we have a lot of apps that are on the mutual account but only used by a few, I'd like to sperate those out too.

This thread seems to imply we're stuck with either dual accounts or rebuying,

Again, I think there are enough use cases.

I'm also CTO of a small business and we use iPads as a business tool. At best it seems I'd be forced to have a single business account and share it with all employees, that will get ALL apps and change the password to the account everytime we have a change in staff. Not very professional..

So I herewith request that Apple enables a mutually acceptable way to transfer apps between accounts. Otherwise I'll be stuck using windows at the office forever.

If I misinterpreted "the way things are" please provide constructive feedback & RTFMs ..

"Why should we have to pay twice to use one app?"

Because Apple wants money. Durr hurr.

I find the way Apple runs things annoying. I recently made a new account because I was using a shared account, so I want to get my old apps back, along with the app purchases. I can't do that. I also am using a new iPod.

Well, first of all, because of how some of my apps work, I've already lost $120 from in app purchases after getting a new iPod, on top of that I can't separate my apps from my old ID to my new one and I can't make in app purchases on these apps unless I delete all my data from my old ID on these apps and reinstall them on my new ID or make in app purchases on my old ID; however, I separated IDs so that I could stick with just buying stuff on the one ID.

😟

I also had to create a new apple ID because of issues I was having on a previous account that I shared. The apps that I BOUGHT LEGALLY are still in both my iPhone and iPad (thank God). But if for some reason I delete them from my devices and then want to download them again on my new apple ID, then apple will charge me again for something I already own on a different account!!! I'm having the same issue with the music that I bought. All the music that I bought is in my old account (which I don't want anymore and don't use) and I cannot transfer those purchases to my new account.

This is unfair and wrong in so many levels.... We should be able to COMPLETELY delete old, unwanted accounts, and be able to transfer those purchases to new accounts. There are simple ways of verifying that the person with the new account is the same person who bought it... Say, credit card???? Is it really that hard???

At a minimum we should be able to edit EVERYTHING in our apple ID accounts. From ID name to email.

I couldn't agree more! We BUY these apps and some of us suckers whom got SCREWED with Mobile Me memberships were left holding a double dipped bag of cloud storage. My Mobile me account came with 5 GB of cloud storage, but did Apple add that to our iCloud account? NOOOOO! They really tick me off the way they refuse to play nice with Microsoft (who's just as bad). The fact that I have legitimately purchased apps and can't transfer them to my other Apple ID is bull-squeeze. They have every means to know I am still me. I like iPhones but the way I've seen Mac users get hosed with planned obsolescence irks me. It's not much better with the phones. They have quality hardware though and that's where the Apple shines.

Good Day!

First I think it's a real shame some here ganged up on the OP bullying and calling them a thief. If one can't help making negative assumptions about others they should keep them to themselves.

Without going into a huge debate on IP and licensing, I can safely say that the way things are here does not serve the end user's interests and rights, nor does it privilege the IP owners. It mainly serves the interests of the middle man, Apple. (Which is one of my favourite brands out there by the way)

I have two issues:

1. I want to transfer all the purchases we've made for my kids to their own iDevice and AID. Apparently I can't.

2. I have a huge iTunes music collection. I want to be able to give it to somebody else on my family. I can't. I want those thousands of dollars worth of music to go to my kids when I die, without them having to pay Apple for it again. I can't get that either. I want to loan an old album I have on iTunes to a friend...you guessed right. I can't do that too.

Apple has been a leader and a pioneer for a lot of things. But I don't think they should be the ones to unilaterally dictate the terms of use and impose them on overwhelmed and under represented end users.

Maybe I'm missing something but when i spoke to Apple support about downloading apps my fiancee's account onto my phone they gave me this article: http://www.tuaw.com/2012/03/17/giving-your-former-ipad-to-a-spouse-or-family-mem ber-the-quick/
