Data Roaming
Do I need to put data roaming on when NOT traveling abroad ? (In my own country)
Mine is turned off and I still have internet, access to emails ect.
What will data roaming do if I put it on ??
Thanks ...

On an iPhone, Data Roaming is off by default. You only turn it on when no longer using your carrier's network, and you want a data connection. Hence it's called "Data Roaming" because you are using a different network then your own...this is very expensive. As long as you are using your carrier's network, there is no need/reason to turn it on.
No, you don't need to put your roaming on within your country.
You need to talk to your carrier if you want to put the roaming on. Charges are higher.
Thanks. But what does roaming actually do ?
Did you click and read the blue Roaming info from my previous post?
From Wikipedia:
In wireless telecommunications, roaming is a general term referring to the extension of connectivity service in a location that is different from the home location where the service was registered. Roaming ensures that the wireless device is kept connected to the network, without losing the connection. The term "roaming" originates from the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) sphere; the term "roaming" can also be applied to the CDMA technology.[1] Traditional GSM Roaming is defined (cf. GSM Association Permanent Reference Document AA.39) as the ability for a cellular customer to automatically make and receive voice calls, send and receive data, or access other services, including home data services, when travelling outside the geographical coverage area of the home network, by means of using a visited network. This can be done by using a communication terminal or else just by using the subscriber identity in the visited network. Roaming is technically supported by mobility management, authentication, authorization and billingprocedures.
These are services from the carrier so they will charge you for it.
