Spell check and autocorrect not working

I have them both turned on, but they aren't working. No corrections and no red lines.

iPad, iOS 5.1

OMG thank you so much! I had the same problem and I was so frustrated about the auto correct.🙂

I ended up removing all of my keyboards while retaining the English keyboard. After that, my auto-correct began to work again.

Just solved problem by switching away from google keboard. pressed globe key, space bar (english), G went away and auto-correct, etc returned.
