iMovie Error -108: Project could not be prepared for publishing

Hello all!

I am making a project using the latest version of iMovie '11. It is quite a heavy project; lots of shots, effects and texts plus music and sound effects. I am using a Macbook Air 2GB 1333mhz ddr3 with a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 (doesn't mean that much to me but I trust you guys know exactly what these specs say about my Macbook).

Every single time I try to export my project to either 1080p or 720p using any of the 'share' options iMovie gives, it starts, takes a few minutes and suddenly quits, giving me the error stated in the discussion title. Now I realize 108 says I ran out of RAM but is my laptop really too hopeless to render a three minute high definition video? If so, that's awfully dissapointing. If not, is there anything I can do to make this export succesful? I've tried clearing space (20gb out of 60 was cleared), rebooting, rebooting in safe mode and quiting all applications.

If there are any suggestions you guys can give me I would be incredibly grateful.

IM very sorry but how do i click on the event name? so on my screen i have event library where its got my iphoto and macintosh hd and i have my project layed out i cant seen to understand about clicking on event name??

as you can see from my picture im optimizing each clip seperatly ? lol

I see. You are storing your video in iPhoto, and I was assuming you were keeping your events in iMovie. You will not be able to right-click on the Event Name. Instead, try holding down the command key as you left click on each clip you want to optimize. Then right-click/Optimize Full.

thanks man.. i done that and now im finalising movie.. 17 hours it says.. lets hope that 3 hours later i dont get the error msg again.. fingers crossed

dam it failed again.. error 108.. why o why cant i just make a 50 min film??? i thought that was the idea of imovie?? iv started to split them as you said try but i dont really want to split em as it ruins the effect of watchin a continus movie.. its strange tho because it did let me make the same movie that was only 40 mins long but after watching the finished 1080p movie i decided to start rediting it and made it longer and changed the music and now all i get is error 108 and even more annoying is i sit here not using the laptop for hours on end only for it to fail?? very very stressful.. any ideas .. im sure its capable of doing this but something aint right.. apple need to fix up

Any news here? Got a brand new Late 2012 Mac mini 2.6GHz i7 with 16GB RAM - Guess what... error 108. It drives you crazy.
