music is in wrong category

I've gotten a classical music piece into my Touch, but it's in "songs" not classical, even tho I moved it into "classical" on the computer.

How do I fix this on the Touch?

Thank you.

iPod touch, I have a Touch 3G and a 4G.

If you manage your iPod by using the Sync feature (shown on the Device/Summary pane) and also (on that pane) you have Sync only ticked songs and videos set ON, then you can manage the Playlist in iTunes and then Sync the iPod to iTunes.

(My Touch cannot delete songs directly on the Touch, so I always use the above method.)

So in iTunes, I would select the duplicates, (in Windows, I use CTRL/click to select non-adjacent songs, I don't know how you do that on the MBP) and then once I have all of them selected, I simply delete. Then Sync the iPod and it will reflect the chnages made in iTunes.

I'm not sure what the list with the + and - signs is, what does it do and where have you heard aboiut it?

If the Playlist is in your iTunes Library, any changes you make to it in the Library should be reflected on the iPod when you Sync.

By the way, in iTunes, look in the Playlist and then select File/Display duplicates which will list duplicate titles.

I've just realised what you mean by the + and - signs. In a Playlist, select Edit (at the top) and each song in the Playlist will have a - sign to its left (for deleting the song from the Playlist) and the + sign is at the top, which allows you to add songs to it.

Hi Jer,

Here's a link to a video about iCloud. http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/#video-itunes-in-the-cloud The first part does mention turning it on, and then it rambles on a bit. Instead...

To turn off the iCloud, you do so on the iPod Touch. (From the video it says) on the iPod, go to Settings/Store>Automatic Downloads>Off (for each item, Music, Videos, Apps).

There is mention about turning on an option in iTunes, but I think so long as the Automatic Downloads on the iPod is off, that should be enough. (The setting mentioned for iTunes is Edit/Preferences/Store and tick or untick each of the Automatic Downloads as you want them. In my iTunes, I have Apps ticked on, but since I don't have any of the other requirements, because my older Touch doesn't do iCloud, that tick doesn't do anything.

You could try editing the Playlist in your iTunes and then using Sync to transfer those changes to the iPod. If that fails, remove the Playlist from the iPod (by deleting it in iTunes and then Syncing) and start again.

If you want to start totally from scratch, you could do a Restore, which will remove evereything from the Touch and then put back only what you have set in the iTunes Library. Restore is a bit drastic though. It's done by connectin g the iPod to iTunes and on the Device/Summary pane, selecting Restore.

It can take a while to complete and if you have any data (information of your own) on the iPod, such as Notes etc. these will be deleted.

Well, Fiend, I've deleted iCloud on the Touch. And I THINK i'm out of Match.

I still have everything listed twice in "Classical", even tho I deleted "Classical" in iTunes, and synced.

Why isn't that working? Wi-Fi is not connected, I'm syncing via cable to the MBP.

Why doesn't Classical go away on the Touch?

I tried deleting a couple sections of a symphony on the Touch, but the Cloud logo appears, even tho iCloud is deleted. This is G4, up to date IOS.

Any idea of what's going on?

Thank you.

Jerry

Ah! 😁

I had noticed your last post and was musing about it. I think you may be right.

If they're both using the same iTunes Library, then I guess that if you delete a song from one iPod, then when you Sync the other iPod, iTunes will take the songs from the Playlists on the second one and add them to the Library and back to the first iPod... (I guess).

There is a way of managing two iPods in one Library, although it's not something I do and I do use two iPods. I have a Touch and a Classic. Since they serve different purposes for me, I have two user accounts on my computer and each iPod has it's own distinct Library on one account only.

If I do want the songs from (for example) the first iPod's Library on the second iPod, I simply add the songs from the first iPod's users' drive to the second iPod's iTunes Library. So instead of the path to the song being C:\user2\Music\iTunes\... it's C:\user1\Music\iTunes\...

They're frightenly complex things, aren't they? ... but good fun, none-the-less.
