That's a bogus error message; it really has nothing to do with disk space. To prevent it, don't move the download while it's in progress. To recover from it, right-click the download bundle and select Show Package Contents from the popup menu. Extract the downloaded file, then delete the bundle.

Hi ...

'' Safari could not download the file '' '' because there is not enough free disk space''.

That means there is not enough free space on the startup disk.

Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

I do not know if your problem was solved and from what I have read most, even the sarcastic members have tried to be helpful. I faced a similar problem not long ago prepping my iMac for some out of town guest. After my visitors, I could no longer download a file using Safari with the same identifying message and no I was not trying to move the file as there was nothing yet to move. In the end I double clicked, opened the info of my download folder, that was apperently locked. After unlocking the Folder itself, double checking read and write permissions, Safari now downloads again without a quibble, hope this helps.

I had to read the whole thread and had to share the joke 🙂 itoa solved it to me,

I was sharing files to another computer and was offended to find some files shared with a read/write access to my account, so I disabled the write to be more secure and totally forgot about it, and didn't think that this is not for file network sharing only, but for local user access as well,

why download cannot complete after move files during download process ?
