My apologies salty, I have still got 10.0.3 and when I select File>New Event there are only the 2 icons (Files and Camera) in the Event Browser.

I misread your original comment and thought you were referring to File>Import where there has always been the opportunity to import from iMovie Projects or Events.

When I have finished what I am doing I will update to 10.0.4 and see if I get the iMovie icon in the Browser as well.

I have just shot a 1080p50 clip and can confirm that FCP X 10.0.4 can use it natively.

On opening the import window the 50p clip is there along with all the normal 50i clips and imports exactly the same.

It also plays back (a little jerkily) in the Event Browser.

This is what the Inspector has to say about it:-

I can also confirm that after closing and opening FCP X a couple of times the offending iMovie Import icon has disappeared!

That's really good news for you Ian! The playback on your monitor might be a bit jerky depending on the load on your machine... 24P is sometimes jerky on mine, but after a rest it gets better, and the final output always looks good on the TV.

Glad that horrible iMovie Import icon has gone for you too.... it's very odd, I'd never seen before the update, although others say it's always there... I didn't do anything (that I know of) to get rid of it... it just went.

Oh well, I suppose that's the end of your PsF posts! 😉

No, because I have no intention of shooting 50p normally.

It's just useful if I ever need to do some silky smooth slo-mo.

Incidentally, the reason it plays back jerkily is because it is native 1080/50p which will put a strain on a 4 year old iMac.

I'm sure it would be silky smooth if converted to ProRes 422.

I've been thinking that the iMovie Import icon is probably there just for the first import or so to encourage anyone with iMovie projects to import them.

both my thumbnails in my event clips and the clips in the timeline are gone. there is also a thick red line which i don't know what that means. but, i tried to make them into a proxy media and that didn't work, but i tried optimized media and it worked. i don't want to change all my files to optimized media because that would take up a ton of space. anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? everything is blank and no audio no video. help!
