As my machine is filling up and 3Tb drives have become available, the question arises: Can I install, and utilize the full capacity of 3Tb on my early '09 MacPro?
I'm looking at a couple of 3Tb WD blacks to replace the original 1Tb's that came with the machine. All my bays are filled.
Thanks for any pointers...

4TB Hitachi - I didn't see or hear of 3TB from WD yet, just the Green series.
Review of some tests and OWC has 4TB
If your Mac Pro does not have an Apple RAID card 3 TB drives will be fine. Be sure use Disk Utility to partition with GUID for the full capacity to work.
