Then it may very well be that the drive is damaged. The error message is from the drive.

Hi Davi;

I would venture to guess that you are, like me, trying to use DVD +R burnable media.

The Matshita UJ-898 in my MBP says that it can write:

CD-Write: -R, -RW

DVD-Write: -R, -RW

This tells me that it won't work with DVD +R media.

A pity, I thought those days were past.

Also a bummer because I have mostly DVD +R media around here.

I found a DVD -R (made by Office Depot) and it works fine, I'm burning a .dmg now.

my dvd burneruj 868 is gone, i found on ebay a Macbook PRO Unibody SuperDrive 8X DL DVD RW Burner Slim SATA Drive UJ-898 898A,

mac book is july 2009, 15 " thanks,
