iPhone 4s: why does app store keep popping up "security info required"

iPhone 4s: why does app store keep popping up "security info required"? This happens after I put in my password. Is this something to be concerned about?

This is so infuriating. When I try to download a new app for my iPhone 4, I get the 'Security Info Required' dialog box, with only an OK button. I click it, and nothing happens. I remain on the same page I was on before. I went to appleid.apple.com and changed my password and my security question - nowhere do I see a prompt for three security questions as others are mentioning. Changing the security question and password as well as adding an alternate email address does nothing to alleviate the problem. Bottom line: I can no longer buy/download apps. I am this close to going back to my Droid 2.

I'm getting same nonsense as billyverde - no idea what to do next. We are an all mac house and I've been a apple dev since 1981 but this defeats me. Apple is now officially big brother and it's very very sad. I have NOT got the time or the inclination to tapdance around this bloody thing as it is 2am and I have a long train journey tomorrow. I just thought I'd download a flowcharting app for my ipad to do some work on the train but now I suppose I'll take the macbook instead.

I understand and agree with your point, but I say that you can't please everyone. Think - what prompted Apple to require these questions? If they add questions, people complain (not saying that you are) that there is too much security or that the information they want is too sensitive. But take those questions away, and people will complain the accounts are too easily hacked or that there is not enough security.

I think a good compromise would be for Apple to at least allow users to write their own questions. For me, it didn't bother me. I just answered the three questions and now I never have to see them again, and can continue using the iTunes Store, but I understand that it is bothersome to some people.

This is getting more bizarre by the moment. I just got an email from here quoting a comment from stevejobsfan0123 which I decided to answer - I clicked on the email link which brought me to the post - I had to log in to reply and when I did the last post in the discussion was mine - NO SIGN OF stevejobsfan0123's. Not only is iTunes messed up but this forum is now acting up. I need to go to bed!!! And in response to stevejobsfan0123 - if someone guesses my password then maybe I am at fault for not selecting a strong enough password - this jumping through hoops mullarkey is not making anything more secure, it's just making things more complicated.

Have not read through this fully so don't know if there is already a solution on here and im just repeating it but i was looking around my account settings on itunes and at the bottom on the main screen on your account it says reset all warnings and something else i cant remember 😀 anyway click that and done should work, i don't know if this problem comes back but it's not difficult to fix temp till apple pull there finger out.

Yeah, this might be a solution to some. When I try to access my account settings in iTunes it asks for my appleID and password - I type them in and the dialog disappears for a few seconds then reappears and asks for appleID and password again - ad infinitum!

This forum seems to accept the same appleID and password (at the moment) yet I tried creating and uploading an Aperture book the other day and had to create a new appleID (and create a new gmail account) in order to do so as it would not recognise this one.

This is a SERIOUS problem that Apple needs to sort out soon as I can imagine that there are many users who are not posting on forums such as this - but are experiencing similiar problems.

So, is there or is there not any official announcement from Apple regarding this?

"Security"? If attempt to install one App initiates this "procedure" but installing other App (using the same account) does not, who in his right mind will assume this is legitimate "procedure" from Apple?

On the other hand, if it is indeed from Apple, it is designed by somebody seriously lacking not only in knowledge of basic security, but also - some most basic common sense.
