Intel Mac Mini to JVC LCOS HDTV

Looking hard at the new Intel Mini and connecting to our 56" JVC LCOS HDTV. Manual for the tv sez does not support Apple (thru HDMI port) but did connect the IMac thru s video port with great results. Anyone have any experience with connectivity with a JVC? Anyone have thoughts on just connecting thru s video port? Thanks, Mark

Hey, i have the same kind of tv and i also read that it doesnt support apple computers through the VGA input on the back of the TV but i figure it will work.
(1) i dont see how a vga port cares what kind of computer your using
(2)i believe they wrote that rule when people were trying to use mini's as HTPC's back when overscan was a problem
now they say it just works
i figure if the graphics card can output 1024x768 which is what JVC asks for you should be fine

ill keep you updated when my vga cable arrives

I have the mini connected to the tv thru the s video port on the side of the tv and using the twin screen option, Imus on the left and typing this reply on the right. Resolution is ok, but not as sharp as I would like it. I have tried a VGA cable connected to the tv pc input and got a floating message to the effect of "not compatible input signal". My son loaned me a hdmi to dvi cable which did not give me any mac screen that I could find thru the various inputs. Let me know what kind of luck you have with your experience. Thanks, Mark

I have my Intel Mac Mini hooked up to a Sony Bravia LCD screen through VGA. I did a lot of research before I purchased these items to find out what type of cable would give me the "best" picture. Everything that I read gave different opinions on quality. In the end I chose VGA simply because it left a s-video port free, but in comparison in picture quality on my screen I could not see a difference. In relation with using a s-video cable, if it works for you leave it. It is unfortunate that the VGA input is not compatable but not a problem as you still have a great picture.

I hope this was a help.
