New iPad and Gmail as Exchange

I tried setting my gmail up using the Exchange method that works on all other iOS devices. It allows you to save the account and gives you check marks however it constantly says connection to server failed. I have deleted and re-added the account and it is the same thing. I deleted and re-added the account on my iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1 with no issues. Has anyone gotten Exchange Gmail working on the New iPad?

I'm having the same issue. I've been using Gmail over Exchange on my iPad 2 for a year, and on my iPhone 4 for almost 2 years. No problems. Last night, I got an iPad 3 and it won't work on there. I tried my wife's account, and it also won't work on the iPad 3. Her account will also not work on my iPad 2 or my iPhone. So it seems that m.google.com is not allowing new devices to be added, for some reason.


I just spent two hours at the local Apple store, and had the same problem on at least three devices there, as well as with the personal Gmail accounts of some of the Apple employess.


Does anyone know if Google is aware of this problem and is working on it?
