Is there an Energy Saver Preference File?

I found one article on this going back to 2008, but it did not solve my problem.

I would like to know if there is an Energy Saver Preference file that I could find in my user Library, perhaps, or even in the root Library. I have been having problems for years with my old MacBook Pro in that it will not sleep as scheduled. This problem 'migrated' to my new MBP. I sold my old computer and found out that re-initing the disk and installing from the install disks that came with it, and then upgrading to Snow Leopard, the old MBP would suddenly actually use the sleep settings so I surmise, again, that something migrated when I used Time Capsule to restore to my new MBP.

I have seen the problem of scheduled sleep not working on many threads, but have yet to find an answer. This is my last attempt - I'll just sleep manually if I have to but I would rather use the scheduled sleep feature.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Clinton

The insomnia is not likely to be fixed by copying the file but it is

Believe me, it's all Greek to me except that I know I have Little Snitch set to 'off' right now, but it's obviously running some process, as are TechToolPro, MacKeeper, 1Password, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.

I do have iTunes open, but I'm not playing any music, don't have a CD in, etc.

Can you deciper anything from this?

OK, I got rid of MacKeeper (and I just recently bought it at the suggestion of a friend!). Followed all directions (save on my TM disk, which I will go back and do) and restarted.

I found four items, using Easy Find (pretty neat little app!) with "BoomDevice" in the name. Deleted them and restarted.

Let me go back now and see about that coreaudiod.

Looks like it may sleep in 15 minutes! I think that the problem may have been MacKeeper.

I'm going to have a cup of coffee and come back in 16 minutes...

Dear X423424X and John Galt thanks so much for all the effort you both put in to help me solve my problem. The culprit was MacKeeper which, thanks to https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3123 which led me to the solution of getting rid of it entirely. It's malware, no question. They have a Facebook account and they are all over the Internet. I'm going to become an un-MacKeeper evangalist.

Yes, now, it sleeps!

Many thanks to you both...

I sent scathing messages to zeobit, the Bay Area Better Business Bureau (where they 'enjoy' a B+ rating with only 6 complaints on file), and on the MacKeeper Facebook page. Just checked my email and got a message saying that they were going to refund my payment.

If it weren't for you and John Galt (whois), I wouldn't have been able to solve my problem. Thanks to you both and I will let you know if zeobit keeps their promise of a refund.

Again, thanks so very much, and a big thanks to Klaus1 for his "Do not install MacKeeper" tip with it's links.
