Rosetta Stone language application will not run

I can get the Rosetta Stone applicaton to install but when I insert the language CD everything locks up ... every time. I have to manually eject using the media eject button to even get the CD out. Anyone have any ideas? Similar problems loading applications? The Rosetta Stone web site claims Mac OSx compatability.

Help, the apps are expensive!

Cheers

Hi LM,
Since this original posting I have found that I can install the applications disk and run my level 2 language disk but still can not run my level 1 disk. There should be no reason for this. I have contacted Rosetta Stone and they think the only thing to do is replace the disk. I will look at my version and the file extensions and reply back later.

Cheers

I received the new language CD and my system just ejects it. The Rosetta Stone rep wondered if the problems could be specific to my hardware. I have the following CD/DVD in my Macbook Pro 2GHz (OS 10.4.7):

MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857:

Firmware Revision: HAE4
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: No

For those who aren't having problems, can you post which CD/DVD you have?

For those one this post that made Rosetta Stone work. How did you make it work. Some said they called rosetta stone and now it works...Well what did they say. When I went on their support chat the rep told me it was because Flash and Java need to be working simulaneously and the new (Dell) Macbook Pros don't do that. He pretty much said it was a Apple problem and not a Skillsoft/rosetta stone problem. Any help and/of info would be great in my mission to fix this problem and learn spanish. Thanks, David

What in the world was the rep referencing by saying that "new (Dell) Macbook Pros" don't do that?

If he was referring to a MBP as a Dell computer, then he is clueless.

I had the same problem with DVD1. Wouldn't find the language packs, but ran fine under Windows XP. The problem is that there are .exe files (like a live CD), so that Rosetta Stone application doesn't have to necessarily have to be installed on a Windows box (My issue anyway).
