New PNY Ram problems

I have a Early 2008 Macbook pro(2.4Ghz Penryn) and I recently purchased PNY 4GB RAM kit (2GB + 2GB)[ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178166 }. I installed the new ram into the computer and when I started it up I got the indicator light, but a black screen and NO beeps. I tried hitting google but nothing has worked; this is the stuff I have already tried

(1) Reseating the RAM with more pressure

(2) Reset PRAM and SMC

(3) REset SMC with no battery

(4) Tried seeing if one RAM module is defected (none where)

(5) Tried seeing if RAM slots were broken (they are working)

So I tried putting one new stick of RAM and one old stick and that worked. Now I am running on 3GB but I still would like 4gb because that is the reason I bought the 4GB set (dur). If anyone at least attempts to help, thanks in advance!
