My Samsung SE-S084F dvd burner, used with lion for months is now suddenly unsupported. Why?

My Samsung SE-S084F dvd burner, used with lion for months is now suddenly unsupported... how can it be possible? I can now read cd/dvd but trying to burn them gives me "Internal error". Disk Utility report: "Burn support: not supported".

I burned my last dvd three days ago, running lion 10.7.3. The only thing I can think of is a software update done few days ago, something about java.

Samsung says that lion isn't officially supported, but i've used it a lot and I know it works…

Things that i've tried:

1) reboot

2) firmware update

3) many different burning software including "drutil" from the shell

4) I've tested the device on another computer (ubuntu 11) and it works like a charm

You can read/wite discs, but they just don't get recognized as legit copy from the copyright protection check? This is weird... I probably wont blame the SE-SO84F for it, this sounds like some problem with OS X. Do you have/can you obtain another mac to try if it works there?

Yes, I still have not been able to fix the problem. I just wish that there was some way to be able to internally turn off the apple optical drive and force all applications/games to use the external drive, but there does not seem to be any way to do this without completely removing the internal optical drive (sigh). I have tested it on another MacbookPro now and it is fine using the apple optical drive for Retina display, but it still will not read the "CDkey" to get into the game and that shows OS X Mountain Lion that the disc is in the external drive properly.

I guess I'll have to find my copy of Snow Leopard and reinstall it becasue everything was working fine before I installed Mountain Lion. What a shame (Unless someone has a solution).
