how do I open MS Office 2000 Word Processor on iMac

Used to use Microsoft 2000 Word Processor on Dell Laptop. My iMac is 2 weeks old and documents have successfully been transferred from the Dell to Mac via Maxtor external hard drive. How can I open the Word Processing documents - NOT to use, but to read. WPS is the extension. There is plenty of discussion on MS Word, but not MS Word Processor

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

WPS is not a Microsoft Word document. It is a Works Document. http://www.zamzar.com/ offers conversion tools.

Thank you. I attempted your solution first, mainly because it required no external communications. Your initial method did give me a drop down window which allowed three options. Terminal: Just opened a black box., App Store: Message on the monitor said: No results , try again, and the third was: Other.... : This took me to the applications in Finder and I could find nothing listed which could suit my needs. I read Neooffice and found it confusing. I am new to iMac and you helped by furthering my options for the future. I have alot to learn.
