XCDROAST X-CDROAST X-CD-ROAST cdrecord.proDVD - how to burn a DVD

Hi guys!

I would like to use X-CD-ROAST 0.98 alpha 15 with a powerbook 15" and OS X.4.5 to burn some DVDs.

The handling with the CD burning possibilities is very well, but the DVD function is disabled!

"cdrecord-prodvd-2.01.01-powerpc-apple-macosx1.4" named as "cdrecord.prodvd" is in usr/local/lib/bin/xcdroast-0.98/bin

performed "chmod 755 cdrecord.prodvd"

Only CD options are working after starting "xcdroast" from "usr/local/bin"

Performed "Rescan" and filled in a key from Feb. 2006:

8:dvd,clone:sparc-sun-solaris2,i386-pc-solaris2,i586-pc-linux,x86 64-unknown-linux,x86_64-pc-linux,powerpc-apple,hppa,powerpc-ibm-aix,i386-unknown -freebsd,i386-unknown-openbsd,i386-unknown-netbsd,powerpc-apple-netbsd,i386-pc-b sdi,mips-sgi-irix,i386-pc-sco,i586-pc-cygwin,i586-pc-beos:1.11::1170000000:::pri vate/research/educational_non-commercialuse:7.YjWqAwHb8u/twYtVoFOpvTrSQQO7j5ps78G.STLd/xz22BABAS6Z82rb4

Then an error occurs: to use DVD function, first proDVD should be installed! But I already did it, isn't it!?

Perhaps somebody could help me using xcdroast for burning DVDs ...

greetings, Rod.

Alpha software releases tend to be very buggy. I would contact the developer of the software. If you need to burn DVD, you may need to have a DVD burner built-in to your Mac, or one that is supported by Patchburn from

http://www.patchburn.de/

Which Mac model and vintage of that Mac model is it a problem on?

What does the System Profiler say under Disc
Burning?

And yes it does matter. You may not have the correct
hardware to burn the type of DVD you want to.

I use a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846.
Burning CDs or DVD-R with FINDER or TOAST is no problem. So, I should do the right settings for using x-cd-roast successfully.

Here you can get it: http://www.xcdroast.de

By the way, it's seems to me you are a very frequent user of apple discussions, isn't it 😉

Have a nice day and greetings to Maryland, Rhod

Interesting, their website only says it is 10.3 compatible. No mention of 10.4. One can only assume they are 10 months behind the times since 10.4 was released April 29, 2005. Until they release a patch that says it is 10.4 compatible, I'd stick to using it under 10.3. Or contact them and tell them which version you are trying to run under 10.4.5 and having trouble with. Given other burning software works fine for you, one can only assume the problem is the software, not the hardware.
