Anyone using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with Logic?

may i add something please?

i am new in this field.

is there any reason for me, to buy the Scarlett 2i2 for my simple-beginner setup?

most people recommend an external soundcard, but i dont know why?

- "macbook pro 2010 i7" 10.8.4 and soon "macbook air 2013 i7" 10.8.4

- logic pro 9

- no audio recording, no guitar, no mic/voice recording (maybe much later midi usb-keyboard)

- Speakers "KRK RP5 Rokit G2" with y-cable into macbook pro

Hi Miss Clandestine,

The Scarlett 2i2 will work just fine with the 64-bit version of Logic in Mac OS X Lion.

I just ordered and setup my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with Logic Pro 9.1.7 today. I plugged in my MXL 3000 condensor and picked up a really hot signal. I get no distinction between signal strength with phantom turned on or off.

I'm brand new to Logic, so I'm not sure if there is something I need to do within Logic to level the signal, or if I am missing something with the 2i2?

So, I actually figured it out. I went into Logic Preferences and set the input to the 2i2. I guess it was set on my internal speakers.

I recently got the scarlet 2i2, but Im having trouble with the playback from the audio I am trying to record over. I am getting a distorted sound as it plays through my headphones. However, when the monitor is on my condensor mic sunds fine, but I can not get a nice sound from the audio coming from my laptop back in to the heaphones. Also is there any settings that I should change in order to lower the latency when using the 2i2.

Hi There

I have just bought a scarlett 2i2 to use with Logic Express. There are two things which I want to ask

1. The Plug in Suite says not compatible with Logic - is this true? Even when I try to open it from the hard drive in Logic it wont allow me to do this. Could you help me with how I can install it in Logic Express?

2. Do I need the plug in suite to use the 2i2? The sound on my SM 57 is so echoy and weak i am not sure what I am doing wrong?

HI Mozz1102,

The plugin suite is compatible with Logic, and you don't have to use it to use the 2i2. You should be able to find it in your AU plugin folder in Logic.

Has anyone played an electric guitarr straight through the scarlett 2i2 into garageband or logic with low enough latency to play the modelled amps??

I am looking for an audio interface to play electric guiyar in garageband using the garageband Amp sounds

Yes it is possible, make sure go to Garage Band> Preferences>Audio Midi> Set Audio Output to Pro 24> Set Audio Input to Pro 24. Create your tracks in garage band and have fun.

I know you can do it with the pro 24.. I was asking if it's possible with the scarlett 2i2 🙂

Yes the Scarlett 2i2 will work with your electric guitar and GarageBand. Just make sure you set the switch to instrument position when you plug in your guitar.
