I absolutely cannot delete certain WMA audiobooks from my Iphone4. Please Help

I have certain audiobooks that will NOT delete from my iphone.

They all happen to be WMA audiobooks from Overdrive Media Library. When connecting my iphone to itunes, they were visible under "Books". I deleted them and they were removed (but only from books in iphone in itunes).

[Side note- these audiobooks were never in my itunes library. Through Overdrive Media Console, they transfer directly to your iphone.]

Upon searching on my iphone in the "spotlight search", the audiobooks still came up in search results, and i could still play them. So they are still trapped on my iphone! Interesgtingly, these trapped audiobooks are not located in any traceable location. They are no where in Music anywhere( ie artists, song, album, etc). And they are not in Audiobooks under the More section(not in compilations, not in podcasts, etc). They only come up in "spotlight search".

And the best part, after hours of trying to figure this out, I accidently wiped out all my music and other normal functioning audiobooks (i was experimenting with "Sync", thinking maybe that would help), and everything was wiped out, EXCEPT THE 3 WMA Audiobooks that i was trying to get rid off!!!!!!!!! They are still on my iphone- like cockroaches. Please help!

iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1

Did you try the instructions here? http://help.overdrive.com/article/2012/03/28/0055/How-to-remove-audiobooks-from- an-iPhone-iPad-or-iPod

How to remove audiobooks from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod

If you need to remove titles from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, you can use iTunes to manually delete files. If you are using an iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), you can use OverDrive's mobile app to download, return, and delete titles directly on the device.

  1. Connect your device to your computer.
  2. Open iTunes.
    User uploaded file
  3. Find 'Devices' on the left side of the iTunes window. Click your device.
    User uploaded file
  4. Click the Summary tab.
    Select Manually manage music….
    User uploaded file
  5. MP3 Audiobooks can be found under 'Music'. WMA Audiobooks will be located in a 'Playlist'.
Select the title(s) you want to delete. Press the delete key on your keyboard.
    User uploaded file
  6. When you're done deleting titles, click the eject button to right of your device's name. This will safely remove your device.

Thank you for your post, but unfortunately when it comes to step 5, the audiobooks are not listed anywhere. I've checked everywhere on the iphone- music, playlists, etc. The only place it comes up is on the iphone spotlight search. But you can't delete things in the spotlight search. I can click on it in the spotlight search, and it plays. But you cant delete things while they are playing.

I too could not delete audio WMA books from my iPod Touch. The books did not show up in iTunes and I could not move them there to delete them. After many tries and the suggestions above all failed.

I finally found the solution! Follow this path to delete..

In the iPod Touch Settings

Go to General

Then Usage, it takes a moment for items to automatically populate in the category "Storage"

Then Music, Everything in your music folder will come up. Audio Books, All Music, Podcasts

I could see all the WMA audio books in the Audio Books list.

Click on Edit in the upper right hand corner.

You will be able to click on the minus symbol in a red circle. This will give you the delete option.

(I am assuming the iPhone will have a similar setting)
