New iTunes security questions

Hello,

iTunes is now asking me to fill in 3 security questions: http://s19.postimage.org/5jz0q6pr7/apple_sec_ques.jpg

1. How can i still use iTunes store and NOT use these security questions?

Why would i not want to use them? Well, i prefer to use a password only i know, not use insecurity questions like "whats your first car?" It's not hard for a whole bunch of people to know that one. Setting these insecurity questions is just giving anyone that vaguely knows me free and easy assess to my account. I DO NOT WANT THAT!

2. How do i make iTunes stop asking my account password every time i want to play songs, download something, or do basically anything in iTunes? It's really irritating to have to put in my password 50 times a week (and nobody else uses this computer.)

You wee not hacked get over yourself. It's funny that the core Apple consumer reminders me of AOL users...they have little understanding of how things work. Apple has introduced a new functionality that everyone hates...and it not working very well. I'm sure a majority of the concerns are human error on the user side...as my wife also struggles with these items.

Please end this nonsense, Apple. Seriously!

Guess I'll just make up some BS answers and save them hopefully in a place I can find them. My first concert? How would I remember that?! Favorite teacher? I had a lot of teachers I liked - most of who's names I don't remember.

Another thing. My wife and I pool our iTunes content purchases into my account as a matter of convenience. Now I'll have to make sure that she and I both have copies of the answers to these ridiculous challenge questions.

As if the 7 device limit isn't good enough security? This is right up there with a round mouse as a stupid Apple move. The fact that I can't opt-out makes is completely annoying!!!

I have to agree this is a very poor decision by Apple. I'm standing by for the time being to see if they change course. I don't appreciate there being a back door around my main password in the first pace. I'm perfectly capable of keeping track of three more additional passwords as bogus answers to their questions, I just don't appreciate being forced too, I don't want to, and I'm not going to for the time being. I'm slowly losing faith in apple as more and more things come out that haven't been thought through well enough. Something needs to change.

Apple are worried about cybercrime. Well I think the choice and idiocy of these security questions is a greater crime!

I never owned a car, don't remember any teachers names, my first kiss is no-one else's **** business, I have an immigrant background which makes answering almost all the other questions subjective or impractical.

This is a total joke.

The first time these questions are shoved in your face, I believe it sends you an email warning you that your security questions were changed. Complete stupidity - they were being set the first time, not changed! Why is Apple alarming people with emails warning about security questions changing when they just shoved them down your throat for the first time?!

Hi Bobaloo

I like you and many others on this forum get increasingly frustrated by agressive and meaningless comments when all we are looking to do is to find answers to questions. We all know Apple can be frustrating at times but the reason we are Apple users in the first place is the true quality.

Having trawled the forum for an answer to my frustration I thought I'd respond to you.

My family share the same account for our devices and the majority of us have come across the security question issue recently. Last night however, when my daughter tried to download an app on her iPad she was not only faced with the 3 security questions but also the recovery email address at the end. I don't mind the security questions as we can get over this but I drew the line at inputting another email address as this drew alarm bells as to whether this was secure or not.

Looking at your response and of another helpful user, yoiu chose to ignore this request and it eventually worked. When I tried to ignore the email address question last night it wouldnt allow me to proceed. Am I right in thinking that if I continue to try to ignore it, it will eventually work?

I cannot thank Apple enough for their support, particular their stores. I had a hard disk failure at the weekend and within a couple of hours. they had replaced it and restored all my data as before. Well done Apple for your support on that one.

Finally thanks to all those forum users who genuinly try and help others rather than those that continue to criticise and abuse.

Hi Dave, Thanks. I hope you were saying that your daughter was asked to input the questions/answers like the rest of us and NOT asked to provide answers to the questions your family has already answered. (or was this the first time your family tried to answer the security questions/answers?) I wish I could answer your question about what made it work for me eventually, however I am not sure. The first few days I was using different email addresses that it would not accept but when I tried to leave that field blank it went through. I am not sure really if that had anything to do with it or not.

(I can't imagine trying to keep this kind of thing straight with several users on the same account. Kudos to your famliy for sharing! I hope you can teach your daughter what a Model-T is and what a Paperboy was. hahahah just having fun)

⚠I wonder if anybody has yet been asked to answer the questions they have already created and for what reason did the website ask them again????

You are right about Apple service at the stores (and sometimes on Applecare) they have really taken care of me when I go in person and always exchanged a problematic machine immediately. Once I had to have a MotherBoard replaced and they quoted 5 to 7 days however it was sent to "the depot" fixed and returned to the store in 2 days. The seemingly retired Apple Support Chat was awesome as well, however I have never been happy with getting a form letter pointing me to the Apple website Search as an answer to my email to support. argh 😕

What I do not understand is why this problem has not garnered any press or response from Apple. I know several people personally who have the same issue who are not posting on the discussion boards. All we want to do is spend our money.
