remove bullets in Mail

Could someone tell me how to remove a list (be it a numbered list or a bulletted list) from Mail?

I know how to stop the numbering (hit return twice) but to remove the list entirely... no idea! I've tried reducing indent etc. but without success. Control shift return simply adds a carriage return without reducing the indent.

All thoughts gratefully received. I've searched on-line and in the forums but with no success.

Thanks in advance!

Proof Apple is going Microsoft. Apple is ignoring their quality interface design roots, and is ignoring their users. The age of this issue, how it's resistance spans multiple OS upgrades, are further proof and reason why my next pc will be a PC.

My solution is,

  • to <CUT> entire line except final space - the invisible <cr> character.
  • delete rest of line
  • <PASTE> on a non-bulletted line.

Poop! Even this dialog box has the feature we're asking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elvines,

I really appreciate your efforts - but nothing you're doing is removing bullets from all the bullet points - it's either removing finishing a list (this can be achieved by double-return) or adding a non-bulleted but indented line. If you're able to take, for example, a bulleted list of 5 bullets and then suddenly to have *no* bullets on the list, then please reply - that's what we're all after and nobody has a solution *within* Mail.

No and yes, respectively.

What he said, but I feel ya. And sorry, no answers here either.

Apple Support Communities is a "Support FOR Apple users BY Apple users" space. I've found some answers, but not always. If you think more group therapy than support desk it might (maybe) be less frustrating.

So Apple may own the building, but they don't work here. There are probably (hopefully?) some Apple employees lurking who drop friendly advice - but nobody with an Apple badge on white hourse will ride to the rescue.

I agree...I can't believe that we need to trawl through forums to find out how to delete bullets...basic stuff!!!!

Check out the bulleting in THIS posting area RIGHT NOW as I type...there's a button for bullets...click them on...click them off...mmmmm simple!!! They can do in their flippin' forum but not in their software - embarrassing!

Apple, so good at so many things, so much of the time...but sometimes they overlook THE most basic things!

We just have to deal with it, report it, and move on in the blind hope of some action and resolution at some point in the future.

Hey ho...go and live a little! Bye

Hi EagerBeager,

Unless I'm missing something (which I think I'm not) the reply I wrote to Elvines still holds:

The solution you've provided does not remove all the bullets. It *does* remove one bullet but then leaves the newly non-bulleted item indented with no way to un-indent (dedent?)

So... the search goes on...
