I cannot buy apps. It keeps asking me for security questions.

I cannot buy any apps. It takes me to a security questions page and when I enter the questions/answers it returns an error message.

I'm not sure if my issue is the same as the discussion you're having here (especially since it has deteriorated slightly). I'm stuck in a sign-in/security loop that always asks me to input my Apple ID password when I click to buy (even free items) anything in the iTunes Store. I'm using iTunes on my Macbook running Leopard. iTunes accepts my password, because I am correctly inputting it. It then asks for my answers to three security questions, which are also accepted. I then have to start the buying process from scratch. When I do so, it asks me for my password again, which it accepts, and then asks for answers to three security questions. You get the idea..... So I'm completely unable to buy anything, even free items.

I am using the latest version of iTunes, and also the latest version of Safari on Leopard, which appears to be a few versions behind Snow Leopard/Lion versions (I presume there are no longer future updates).

Any advice would be appreciated.

The app download problem I was experiencing on my iPod-Touch 4th gen. was resolved by following the procedure mentioned above. I tried downloading the same app using iTunes on my MacBook. By doing so, I was prompted for the three security questions, and after setting up the answers to the three questions, the download of the app then commenced. Going back to my iPod-Touch, I was now able to download apps without being asked to set-up security questions and getting into the "infinite loop" of requests for my password.

Thank you very much dt10208 for providing a path to a solution!

I don't know whether it's a glitch or bug in itunes (PC) , but it's a fix definitely.

Follow :

1) Download a free app from app store. It will ask for password, give it.

2) That app will start downloading.

3) Now within a short span of time, download the desired (paid) app, and it wont ask any password or security questions.

4) Done !

I actually understand what's going on!I mean I purchased an app before but now there saying to ask for my security question!I think this is very stupid of apple to do this. Now I have to try to change my rescue email and security questions because I don't remember them! But probably if apple gets more complaints they'll probably change that for iOS 7 maybe.

I Had the same problem, here's what you do.

go to appleid.apple.com

log in

Go to manage account

on security click edit

**************turn off 2 step authentication***************

It should then prompt you to create your security questions.

Once that's done you're problem should be solved. Go try to download an app once you've made you're security questions

Should you turn back on 2 step authentication? I have no idea but I can live without it, it just makes you use a code they send to your phone anytime you log in your Apple ID somewhere different

also if you never had 2 step authentication then it should have "passwords and security" and you should be able to figure it out

If it doesn't work following these steps on your phone try on the computer

otherwise your welcome 🙂 Please share this answer so everyone can get their problem solved thanks !

I cannot buy apps. It keeps asking me for security questions.
