Final Cut Pro X project timeline vanished from project window.

I'm using Final Cut Pro X on my Intel based iMac running Snow Leopard. I was trimming a video file in the project timeline when the timeline vanished. The project window is there but the timeline is gone in all projects. Any ideas?

Having the exact same problem on the FCPX Trial. I've tried it on other computers (not running the trial, but full), and it doesn't do it. I've tried trashing preferences, restarting, moving projects in and out, I'm getting the exact same issue as the original poster, with the same visual effect. Trimming a gap to zero will produce the grey screen that I can't get any projects up after that. I'm not looking to rebuild every project with XML, and I want to know if it will happen again in the future. Thank you.

Exported XML file.

Remove project from the Project Folder

Deleted : ~/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Layouts

Restart FCPX.

Import XML File

That seems to do it. Although I'm not sure if deleting the layouts had much to do with it. It seems that if you have one "funky" project it will mess up the timelines of all other projects. If you're not sure wich project is giving you problems you can one by one check to see wich is not loading. For me the bad project had no preview thumbnails while viewing project reel. Good thing the XML import works like a charm!
