xcode 2nd tutorial "Bird Watching" question

Complete newbie.

Followed the first tutorial with no problems.

I have now finished the second and am stuck.

1. I have no errors/warnings when finished.

2. I have looked at all the code, twice.

What is happening is that when I run the simulator the only window that appears is the one showing "pigeon" and the date found. When I attempt to use the "app" I can't navigate anywhere, can't "+" an item of view the one default iteam, pigeon, listed.

Any ideas?
