The new ipad personal hotspot doesn't worked...(Malaysia)

I am using new ipad 3 in Indonesia and also having the same problem. My carrier is Telkomsel and on iPhone the personnal hotspot setting is available but on the ipad. I have also contacted the provider and they confirm that the internet tethering is already enabled at the operator level. Carrier version on the about screen also displays the same carrier version.

My guess this is an iPad issue that can only be fixed by Apple through carrier update.

Apple please help!!!

I am also not able to configure hotspot with carrier Airtel (India). It must be problem with new iPad.

Please follow below steps to enable hotspot in New iPad

( Carrier is the Data/Sim service provider)

1. Check the carrier, it should 12.1 as below

A) Setting>General>About>Carrier ..... It should be "Carrier12.0"

B) Click on "Carrier12.0", it should show "PRL 1"

2. Carrer should be 3G ..... Left hand side top corner will show that or contact with your carrier to enable it.

3. Now reset network setting as below

A) Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.... Provide the password if you have (unlock password)

B) It will reset, wait till come up.

4. Set the APN as below

A) Settings>Cellular Data>APN Settings

B) Type your carrier name in "APN" below "Cellular Data"

C) Type again carrier name in "APN" below "Internet Tethering" on same screen.

(I believe even it should work if you will type anything, but both should same or may be different.)

5. Now you will see personal hotspot in below place

A) Setting>General>Network>Personal Hotspot

6. Now switch on Hotspot and set wifi password

7. Enjoy

It work for me with Airtel (India) carrier . Do some RnD, you may omit few steps.

I have followed The steps you have provided but the apn setting for internet tethering still does not work. I have also tried loading other IPCC as some suggested and it seems not to have done anything.

My carrier is telkomsel.

Correction, the apn setting for internet tethering is not displayed at all as well as the option to turn on personal hotapot.

Currently the carrier section in about screen is Telkomsel 12.0 with PRL 1

Telkomsel should support (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937) Hotspot in Indonesia.

Use one of these 2 settings:

Telkomsel Setting:

Access Point Name : telkomsel

Username : wap

Password : wap123

Or:

Telkomsel

APN: Internet

User ID: wap (or you can leave it blank)

Password: wap123 (or you can leave it blank)

At last you can try by complete reset your iPad. You should keep,backup all data with iTunes, else you will loose all data.

One of the problem is that I only see APN setting for cellular data. If i moved the SIM card over to my iPhone, the personal hotspot and APN setting appears.

Thanks Usamantaray! it's working..i just follow with your provided steps,but nothing appear..but with few clicks on something like Cellular Data and Network, ALL OF SUDDEN the Personal Hotspot appear...thanks so much..

anyway i dont think Carriers around the world have problem with this personal hotspot...it should be Apple who is responsible.

Apple just release and carrier update , go to general -> about , it will pop up a windows ask to update the courier setting, after update go back to general -> network and you will see personal hotspot function is available to choose .

My new iPad is working fine with Maxis line.

There's no pop up after opening about in general.

You must insert the data sim card in ipad 1st.

Mine does not do anything as well perhaps there is no update for my provider.

My carrier before update is Maxis 12.0 after update is 12.1
