I cannot remember the answers to my security questions. How do I reset them?
iPhone 4
Go to https://appleid.apple.com/, click on "Manage my account" on the right, sign in, click on "Password and Security" on the left, change from there.
I tried this and it only allows me to change my password. I clicked on security questions but you need to answer them before you can go any further. I'm still stuck. Am I doing something wrong?
Try contacting iTunes store support: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mail/.
I don't see anything there that covers this issue. The link focuses on mail issues and nothing on the page seems appropriate. I checked out some other links that looked like they might cover the topic but all focused on specific hardware or software problems, nothing on security problems. Even "contact us" doesn't get me anywhere useful. Any other thoughts?
Sorry, wrong link: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html. Account security is one of the topic choices you can inquire about.
Thanks, randers4, I contacted them using that link and am in the process of getting the questions and answers reset. Looks like this will resolve the problem. Thanks again for your help!
You're welcome.
`Not only am I the same as everyone else in this thread, i.e. asked stupid questions but can't remember them fully or if I used or high or lower case - BUT I put my birthdate in and it says that it's wrong! What is going on, come on Apple read these threads and get it sorted.
I believe that Apple are in the process of automatically setting any questions that have not been previously set up by the account owner ... "At this time, the security questions which appear are pre-set by Apple and may not be able to be answered, due to them being automatically issued."
The only way of resetting these is by enquiring (I used expresslane for itunes, i think the same link as above), they will email back (within 24 hours) and ask some questions and when you answer they will reset the security questions. Check your spam folder as my responses were sent to Spam by google.
MikeF,
sorry to be a wiseguy, but appears what you and the rest of us are doing wrong is that we have trusted Apple for 30 years and they have lured us into this very, very annoying security questions system.
Let's hope they admit they are wrong and make Apple once again the best and easiest technolgy to use.
Five Locks on my front door does not insure safety.
Thanks Mike. This is the only thread that gives a workable answer to resolving this problem.
I started using my first mac yesterday and today i spent 2 hours failing to purchase my first App. Whomever is is in charge of health & safety at Apple needs to be put back into his padded cell.
Regards
James
