I've been battling random kernel panics since I got my MB. I figured it was my 3rd party RAM but memtest after memtest turned up nothing. I swapped chips, ran tests, everything and still get on average one per day. I finally figured out that OSX logs the panics and here is what every one in the log says:

Is there anybody with some smart insight on why/how/what casues this? Happens sometimes 5 or 6 times a day.
I'm not very good at reading (or better: understanding) those error messages. It really, really frustrates me. Wish I haven't sold my G4 powerbook 😟

What type of router are you guys using? Also, I read somewhere about makeing sure that the router is only set to "g" and not "b" or both. Might be something to try.
This problem happens every time I have my airport card turned on at work. After about 5 minutes of using the computer (without connecting to any wireless base station), the kernel panics. This is 100% reproducible. If I turn my airport off at work and plug into the ethernet LAN using a cable, I never see the issue - I have run continuously for up to 1 week with no issue (before I had to shut down for other reasons). I don't have this issue using my airport at home with a netgear wireless access point and there are many other access points available to connect to in the area. At work, there are a few access points available, but I don't use them and I'm not sure what type they are.
My guess is that this problem has to do with a particular access point make or model, or the wireless protocol being used to broadcast.
I will try to time how long it takes for the kernel to panic to verify this, but it appears to happen at about the same length of time after boot up each time.
Bottom line: the workaround is to turn off your airport.

I had the same problem with my two week old Mac Book Pro. It would kernel panic within 15 minutes using wireless w/Airport hub. It was fine when using built-in ethernet. I reformatted the unit and replaced the airport card and it did not help. I sent my unit off last week for repair and Apple replaced the main logic board. It works fine now with the wireless. Although it has frozen several times when waking from sleep. Hopefully a reset of the power manager will fix this. I have read other posts of MacBook Pro users have trouble with freezing when waking.
i had the exact same problem with netgear wpn802 rangemax ap using wpa. switch everything in the router off that remotely smells like super g. disable super g enhanced features, xr support and set mode to g/b only. that should fix it.
Just got my brand new 2.16Ghz MacBook Pro and it is doing exactly what everyone is complaining about. i find it very depressing that apple has not addressed this issue. Even with the new MBP i am still getting the "hold down the power button" ...etc screen when using the airport built in. As soon as i use an ethernet cable everything is fine. and as said before it is 100% re-producable. mine does not last more than a minute or two before it crashes. especially if you try to download something. I think I will be returning this MacBook Pro without an exchange. i am not new to Mac i have a G5 and and iBook. i am thinking this intel thing was not such a good idea.
I to am getting these kernel panics only with Airport is running. This is a 2 day old Mac Book Pro and while Airport is activated I will get kernel panics every 5 to 10 mins. Here is my panic.log: (not that it is really any different the everyone elses)
Ok Guys here is an update. If you are one of those few that are having these kernel panics. then read this. Mine as i posted earlier is about 4 days old. By reading on this post i thought basically all macbook pros have this problem. Well i went to the Mac store near by and I played around with some macbook pro using the build in Airport card and they were fine. So here is the conclusion. There is a common problem with macbook pro but it is not all of them, apple determined it is a good enough reason to consider mine DOA and exchange it for me. so if you have one with this problem dont wait around for a a driver update because that is not the answer. call apple and get it exchanged. dont simply turn the airport card off, the chances are if you have a macbook pro it is still under warranty so take advantage of that while you have it and get it exchanged. BTW a different airport card does not solve the problem, my guess it is an issue with the logic board.

hate to throw another one in there -- but i am having the same problem! i talked to apple support today, and they told me to monitor the problem, log when it happens, and call back tomorrow! i dont think they really know how to fix this one yet!
on a side note, how does the return policy work? if i return this due to the airport, will i have to pay the 10% restocking fee? it came with iwork preinstalled, can i still return it? this is my first apple, and while i do love it, this is VERY frustrating!
I think I am having the same problem. The panic log
looks the same, but it only happens to me when I try
to software update....?
I would be downloading something in software update
and the grey screen of death would come up...
my ram tested out ok.. so that's not the problem.
Mac Book Pro 2.0 Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.6) 1 Gb DDR2 SDRAM
it is crashing because of the airport card like i said earlier it happens when you download something. thats what you are doing when you software update isnt it?. anyways I bet a billion dollars it wont kernel panic when you software update if you didnt use the airport card, and used the ethernet cable instead.
