Apple TV 3G AirPlay Mirroring Stuttering

I have alreadys posted in other threads but there is no thread with my exact issure.

In particular I have problems with the AIrPlay Mirroring with games on the new Apple TV 3G and the iPad 2.

I have tried 3 different Routers: one with 150 MBit/s, one with 450 MBit/s and one dualband 300 MBit/s.

The issue remains the same:

1. AirPlay Mirroring is not 1080p on my TV. Tried 2 TVs, an LCD Samsung B650 and a new Plasma Panasonic STW50. On both TVs there is a visilbe 5cm black frame around the picture. I looked at the Apple TV settings and looked at the zoom and overscan settings on my TVs - so I couldn't find any errors in sthe setings.

2. AirPlay Mirroring stutters on the TV that bad that it is not playable! I tried all variants 50Hz and 60Hz and no change. Music videos from my iMac didn't stutter once!

3. From time to time the whole Mirroring freezes fo a second and the continues (and I'm out of the track and naturally out of the race)

I tried 3 games: RealRycing 2, Asphalt 5 and Modern Combat 3 - all the same issue.

So what the heck is happening here!?!

WiFi network isn't to slow or to far away (same room 3m ftom couch and 0,5m to Apple TV, wired connection to the router didn't help either).

+ Either the new Apple TV 3G or the iPad 2 seems not to support WMM, which can be switched on on some routers; the opposite happens: disabling WMM makes AirPlay work between iPad 2 and Apple TV3. With enabled WMM I wasn't even able to play music!

It seems like the Apple TV is buffering too slow or that the hardware is to weak!

(There is one thread where Apple TV buffers videos and stutters the same way. I didn't try look some long films, only Music Clips.)

Your listed as a "Commerical Property Agent"

Our line of work is strictly electronics.

We've received emails from a few people thanking us for assisting them with their questions.

This particular question is more unique than others.

Maybe you're time would be better spent focusing on "Commerical Property Agent Work"

I tried the Cisco Linksys E3200 (dualband 300 MBit/s), the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND (300 MBit/s with the **** of 3 long antennas 😀 ) and the router from my provider (150MBit/s) I thought the router from my provider ist cr@p but this was not the truth.

About the E3200:

- When I force N-only mode with 5GHz on my router the iPad 2 won't connect untill the WMM funktion on the router is enabled (read it in one apple help document)

- When WMM ist enabled the iPad 2 connects to the N network but all kind of AirPlay stopps even music from iPad to Apple TV 3G wont't stream at all!

- So I had to turn WMM off -> my iPad 2 won't connect to the stronger network

I don't want to buy another WiFi router, I'm tired now of all this problems... The main reason I bought the Apple TV3 was to stream Music from my iMac without any cables. But the AirPlay Mirroring is a nice to have feature and doesn't work as advertised 😟

We downloaded Modern Combat 3 onto an iPad2. We incurred the cost of $6.99 for the download.

We did not experience any issues.

Mirroring worked perfectly.

The test configuration is: iPad2 to Cisco Linksys WiFi router to Apple TV to Yamaha Surround Sound Receiver via HDMI to Flat Screen LED TV.

Again. No issues.

If anyone reading this would like to explore your matter further please let us know your make and model router.

We will post updates and video to this link within 24 hours

New video posted at very bottom of this page: http://www.allabouthomeelectronics.com/apple-tv-airplay.html

We mirrored Modern Combat 3 for 10 minutes without one single glitch before making this video.

No special programming of any sort was applied to any device contained within the equipment shown in the video. The LAN switch identified in the video is NOT required. We connected AppleTV to the Router via hardwire Ethernet.

The Internet Service is DSL and upon downloading MC3 we opted in to allow notifications during game play therefore we believe data regularly flows in and out via Internet and Internet speed "might" effect operation but in our case, the slowest DSL service available by the ISP, it did not effect game play

No other devices within premise were accessing the Internet at the time of Game Play. If other devices access Internet at time of game play you might experience band-width related problems.

After viewing the video....if you would like assitance please post your configuration.

I'm having exactly the same issues here!

I set up the Linksys E3200 to work in Dual Band mode, with one network working in G-only, and the other one in N-only. Everything else like channel and bandwidth set to auto.

My Ipad2 connects to the N-only network, same does my Apple TV 3. But mirroring works only when I turn off WMM and set the network to "mixed" mode instead of "N-only". Therefore it doesnt seem to work in N-mode when WMM is on, only setting the network to mixes-mode helps, and the performance shows that too, it's completely unusable in Real Racing 2 HD as it stutters every second. So it seems to choose to work in G-mode.

So, WMM and N-mode doesnt work at the same time with the E3200 and the Apple TV 3!

Just because you have changed your router doesn't mean the devices are any closer together, that anything that was interfering with your network before isn't still interfering with it or any devices that were hogging the network haven't rejoined the network and continue to do so.

If mirroring is stuttering or lagging, it's a network issue.

I'm sure you have, all help here is welcomed. You have provided help in a number of other threads.

This particular question is more unique than others.

No, this is a question that has been asked a number of times before and is no more unique than any other question that relates to networking issues.

If you want to continue to post comments that do not pertain to the topic at hand your free to do so.

Comments that don't pertain to the topic in hand was the reason I made my comment in the first place. You have so far commented on Internet connections and HDMI cables, all of which have nothing to do with the problem the OP is facing, but of more concern is your continual unnecessary links to your commercial site. If your site had some information relating to the subject of the problem, that would be different, but they don't, and in such circumstances are nothing but advertising, which isn't the reason these communities are here.

A bit uncertain what you are talking about Winston ?

We actually own and use Apple Products. Apple TV, Express, MacBook, iTune, Extreme, iPad, iPhone etc.

Our site, with the exception of 4 maybe 5 products, site does't not sell anything ?

You've just now responded to a post 3 weeks old. Over those 3 weeks you've seemed to miss posts, and you are on here a lot, where we suggested a person ask you; and we've seen questions asked that you didn't or couldnt answer? You've not looked very closely either because our posts contain more then comments about HDMI cables. Are you sure you're interests are purely trying to help. Apple policy allows links. Many others link. And when we link, such as this, we always say

If you visit our link to Apple TV we need to let you know we might benefit from your visit or even profit.

I was replying to the post of 5/18 from Applefan32, when I saw your post and responded to it. The point I am making is that your site doesn't discuss the issues relating to the OP's problem, so why keep posting links to it. Commercial reasons thats why.

In other threads where your site is relevant, by all means post a link and print a disclaimer, it helps the OP and that is useful. But when it's not relevant the only one it helps is you or your company and that's not what these communities are for.

......Our site, with the exception of 4 maybe 5 products, site does't not sell anything ?

Whether it's 4 or 5 products or 4 or 5 hundred, you are still selling products and featuring commercials.
