deleted items keep reappearing

Everytime that I try to delete or move an event that is scheduled in iCal, it reappears several seconds later and WILL NOT delete

please help

I was reading commemts on duplicate entries not parmantly deleting fro Ical .It was bugging me too. Then I went to an entry that was duplicated. I edited it by changing the repeat function to none and there you have it all future entries deleted
