As I try to view video on my screen, in iMovie as well as Final Cut Pro a thin blue line show at the left side of screen. I have tried to capture video with two different machines G4-800 and an iMac. I even switched cables and camera's however the blue edge persist.
* Is it possible that the tape has a crease in it? Is a line visible on all of your tapes or just that one?
* Can you see the line when looking at the video on the LCD screen of your camera? If not, it
may be caused by the firewire connection.
* Also, it may not show up on a DVD
Thanks for sharing my despair 😉
I have thought of the firewire, however I have tested this as followes.
Several tapes, both in LP and SP.
Two different firewirecables
Two different camera's Sony DC-PC1 and PC10
Three different Macs 2 Powermac G4-800 1x iMac G5-1600
The line which is yagged is locked to the left side and is not steady. It doesnot show up on the LCdscreen of the camera nor on the television I hooked on to check the image. It does show however in the scenes I captured in iMovie. I have not tried to upload the captured scenes back to the camera or burn it to a DVD.
The reason (as Karsten explained) that you can't see it on the TV is because of overscan. So, I believe that once the video is captured back to the camera or to DVD, the line won't show up when it is played on TV.
Doesn't fix your situation, but at least you 'll have a viewable DVD or VHS without the line.
