How to I enable PHP on my MacBook?

Check your Apache logs with:

tail /var/log/apache/error_log

tail /var/log/apache/request_log

That may tell you which file you are actually requesting and why it is failing.

Okay, cracked it. I created the files on my Mac and got the same result you're getting, but I fixed it. The problem is the line I said earlier, what you need to do is take out the leading '/', which forces it to look in the root folder. So the line should read:

<form action="scripts/sayHelloWeb.php" method="POST">

Then it works!

It might be a good idea for the original poster to avoid the subdirectories at this point. It will all work fine without any scripts, css, or ".." directory. Just put all the files into the same folder.

That was my earlier suggestion, but it still produced an error. Would be interesting to see how OP implemented that.

There are many approaches that are good practice in the real world but get in the way when you are just learning. This is one of them.
