Outgoing SMTP for iCloud?

iCloud is now functioning on my MacBook (OS 10.7 Lion), iPhone, but not the iMac (OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard).

I converted from MobileMe. Incoming mail functions with iCloud on the iMac, but I am not able to connect to Outgoing and therefore unable to send outgoing Mail from this computer.

The Mail Connection Doctor in Mail Preferences indicates that I am connected to an outgoing SMTP account in Mail.

I manually added smtp.iCloud.com.(name). but to no avail.

So therefore two questions that may resolve this issue:

(1) what is the correct smtp address for iCloud?

(2) does the iCloud server support SSL? Please note that I have no idea of what SSL is, but the Mail Connection Doctor advised that I check this out.

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No avail because that is the wrong address, use these settings.

all I managed to get my mails to send through outlook 2011 by entering the following as the outgoing server now working fine.

p99-smtp.mail.me.com

Hi all,

I solved the those problem with:

Imap:

Server name: mail.me.com ( so without imap)

Smtp:

Servername: smtp.me.com ( without mail)

TLS required: Yes

Port :25

In and out goingmails work fine now.

I shouldn't rely on those going on working, they are the old ones. The correct settings are given here:

I have the correct ones working in Snow Leopard, where Mail is set up manually, so it's odd if they are not working in Outlook - but odder if mail.me.com works because that's supposed to have been turned off by now (some people have found it working for a time then stopping: it may be a geographical thing).

With imap.mail.me.com you did I assume use SSL and port 993?
