Since switching to iCloud I can not receive my .mac mail on the Mail program, I get them on my iPhone and on the iCloud Mail but not on the Mail application which I liked and used it all the time.

Deleting the account in Mail will have no effect whatever on your messages, which are stored on the server. You can then set up the account from scratch with the new settings as detailed in my page:

You will then be able to access your email exactly as before. What Apple have told you is wrong - some Support staff are saying this: others are referring people to my page(!).
