That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

You can export the photo and do that in preview and then import the new photo

What everyone is asking is how to produce a MIRROR image of a photo in iPhoto.

In Microsoft Photo editor, you go to 'Rotate' and choose Mirror; It flips the image as if the photo has looked into a mirror.

For instance, if it's a picture of someone showing a left-facing profile, one can choose 'Mirror'

and it makes the photo look like it's now a right-facing profile.

I don't think iPhoto can do this and preview can't either.

At least not that I can find. Flip horzontal and vertical, yes.

But 'Mirror' --- no. Unless they use a different term - but

I have hunted for a long time to no avail.User uploaded file

Then why not set "Preview" as external Editor in iPhoto? (in the "Advanced" tab of the Preferences, in the "Edit Photos" drop down menu?

@EdChurch:

Then simply select an image, ctrl-click, select "Edit in Preview", and in Preview select "Flip horizontal" in the "Tools" menu, then save the image.

This will create a copy in iPhoto; you need to select the copy to see the mirrored image.

Instead of using an external editor you may use an automator workflow to mirror/flip selected images in iPhoto:

Lauch Automator and create a new service.

  1. Select "Photos" from the Actions.
  2. Drag an "Get selected iPhoto Photos" to the workflow.
  3. Select to add "Copy Finder Items"
  4. Add a "Flip Images"
  5. Save the Workflow
  6. Select an image to be rotated (or images) in iPhoto
  7. Press the "Run" button in Automator.
  8. This will send flipped images to your Desktop. Reimport them.

Hi--

Hope this helps.

Using your MacBook or iMac:

Try opening the image you want to reverse. This will open up "Preview" (which you will see at the left top part of your computer), find Tools, open the menu, tap "Flip Horizontal." This should flip the image/ mirror the image. Then, close image with "save."

Photos of shirts with phrases that are reading backwords, this should help correct that problem.

You can do this if you want to print the photo. Choose 'File', then 'Print'. When the print menu comes up, select 'Customize'. The photo will open in a new window. You can then right-click and a number of options will appear, including 'Mirror Image'. You can then select the Print button at the bottom right hand of the screen (do not use the File -> Print option again as it will print the original layout of the photo).

Hope this helps.
