I smell mostly the heat of my bloody battery draining my Iphone again. to be honest; I don't accept this behaviour from any of the devices so I don't see why I should accept it from the Iphone. I am changing to android also
You will love an Android phone! My associate in the next office keeps his plugged in when at his desk, because the battery lasts about 6 hours on standby if not plugged in.
Same problem here. Battery drain is so bad that when I had it plugged into my car stereo, the phone just stayed at its current charge for a whole hour. Usually that'll charge the phone about 50% on my commute. In two hours, it's dropped 30% of its charge.
sbailey4, I'll try the reset and see if that helps. Thanks for that tip.
i was having battery issues after the update and did a restore and things seem to be working much better. My battery has only dropped 1% in 45 minutes.
Resetting all settings (not a phone wipe/restore) didn't help. Going to roll back to 5.1 when I get off work. Meantime, turning off Bluetooth, 3G, push notifications, etc.
My iPhone 4 is now better than new. The solution wasn't to reset it or to restore it. I think the issue is a battery calibration issue. After 3 full charges and then drains of the battery my iPhone battery is better than new.
I left for a day of Golf yesterday at 10am will a full charge. I used maps to navigate my way there. Had a 30 minute phone call. Received several emails and responded on 3G. Used IMDB to look up the name of the actor in Hulk 2 (because I think he was a bad choice and needed his name for a conversation I was having).
Now at 8am the next day and with out any recharging my phone is still at 65%!
So fully charge your phone and then let it run flat and perhaps try this for 3 times (it was after the 3rd time my battery came good) and this might fix your phone.

how to downgrade to iOS 5.1.0 from iOS 5.1.1?
You can't.
How about turning down the brightness on your phone. Most people at my office complaining about poor battery life are also the ones with brightness set to "blind me" mode.
Are you sure? I suspect Apple is still signing 5.1 so if you do the manual update (browse for the ipsw file after downloading it) it should work. I have not tried it because 5.1.1. seems just fine to me but it may still work for now.

I had the same battery issues after 5.1.1 which I did wirelessly. I did the reset all and it fixed my problems.
While this only worked using a different PC other than my normal sync, (glad I have 4 in the house).
I got a failed update, then failed restores for 5.1.1
I then attempted to restore 5.1 from the download at http://gdeluxe.com/ios-firmware-ipsw-download-links/ but that too failed.
So I was going to wait until my express lane apointment came up and figured I should charge up the phone so it was maxed out...but...frustration got the better of me.
First I jumped on one of the other PC's which hasnt even been sync'd and hasnt had an itunes update either. It stil has 10.5.2.11 version installed.
So I transfer over the install file to it, plug in the phone, itunes starts up and asks to update, I deny it.
I wait, then the popup for "Iphone in recovery mode...must be restored...yadda yadda comes up" clicked OK.
Now shift clicked the restore button and just as I was about to try 5.1.1, i figured I was just going to roll back to 5.1 version instead.
It installed, my Iphone is now alive again and not just a drink coaster.
Took it back to my normal sync terminal, resotred my backup file and yay...no more 5.1.1 woes
Hope this helps others to repair their iCoasters.
Perhaps rolling itunes back to earlier version and installing the 5.1 can save some others from the 5 hours of iRage i suffered
My issue solved while I Reset and restore back using iCloud!
I have solved my battery problem I was going to bin my phone!!! I factory reset it then drained the battery completely. I charged it to 100% and left it a further two hours on charge, make sure your phone is switched off when you charge it!!! I then repeated the drain recharge procedure twice more and gradually it massively improved the battery I have only used 21% in the past 11 hours 6 of which on standby!! I will drain and charge again later one last time then hopefully it's cured
It is cured yipeeeeee

The last time I tried, Apple is still signing 5.1. I got a little too technical in a help thread I've made and it was removed.. and the perceived intention was to jailbreak. But no. I don't get why the forum mods aren't aware what's happening in the software engineers' office.
Anyway, it did work. 5.01, 4.35, 4.31 etc will not work though.
When Apple releases a new firmware, they temporarily continue signing of the preceeding version for about 2 weeks or so.
