iPhoto 11 Majorly Corrupt???

Can anyone help me? PLZ!!! Mac V OSX 10.6.8

My iphoto 11 Library seems to be on LSD, ok maybe not, but there is something seriously wrong here?

I have read many a tutorial and watched many a video.

But to no help.

Even when i go into the data base of the library after right clicking the .app file itself i get weird looking zoomed in photo's in the data folder?? (which i am VERY worried about).

My Library .app is stored on an external 2 terabyte HD and its 612,220,894,784,Bytes large.

I have 3/4 Years of Photos saved in this Library so if ANYONE can help me I would really Appreciate it, Cheers LJ

The whole situation has been very frustrating. Thankfully, rebuilding my thumbnails worked and seems to have solved the problem! I am now going to take Terence's advice and get a good backup of my whole system. I don't know anything about "lightroom" - just storing and using my photos through iPhoto.

I was a PC user for years, and have found it most difficult converting to the Mac. When an issue arrises, I am entirely helpless. Thank goodness for forums such as this.

Thank you Terence!

Trying to grab and move the entire library and put it onto an external hard drive. System WILL NOT allow me to move it!! I get a white circle with an / through it. Tried to burn to a disc, but won't allow me because the file is too big.

How can I get it to move the library to the external hard drive? Wondering why this is happening.

I just finished doing a complete backup of all my iphoto photo files by coping and pasting all my photos from the folders in iphoto folders onto an external HD and then dropped the rest of the "albums" across to Lightroom 4, no problem there was all good and have a full copy of all my photos now on external had just finished and was stoked BUT then this HAPPENED 😢.

Well this might be a clue to what's going on here.

Hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Use the option to Check and Repair Library permissions.

Warning: Never do anything with iPhoto without a good backup.

The rebuild library option of iPhoto 11 is flaky, and can actually delete (yes, delete) the photos. I'm going to say this again. The rebuild has a serious bug (that I hit) where the original photos are deleted after the conversion.

This happened to me after attempting to rebuild. I sure hope it worked out OK for you.
