Desktop icons flashing/refreshing periodically.

This is a strange problem that just started happening and I cannot seem to find any information on it.

Every minute or so, the icons on my desktop dissapear and reappear in less than a second. It is almost as if something is crashing and restarting in the background. It would be that big of a problem, except that if I am working on a full screened app it slides me back to "Desktop 1" everytime that it happens. It's pretty unexplicable.

Any ideas?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I found this in the system.log. It happens every time it refreshes.

Thanks! That worked for me. I have an older iMac running 10.6.8, and this problem started after a safe restart. The flashing was making me crazy. I use the Google Drive, so it was nice just to tweak the preferences and get rid of this irritation.
