wifi problems on iPad 2 after upgrading to iOS 5.1.1

I upgraded my iPad to iOS 5.1.1 last night. Ever since then, it keeps losing the wifi connection. My laptop, ipod and iphone are not losing any connectivity with the wifi, nor has this been a problem with the iPad prior to upgrading the iOS.

Has anyone else had this problem

iPad 2, iOS 5.1

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

I'm having issues with wifi on my ipad2 since updating to 5.1.1 yesterday, the device cannot maintain a wifi connection for longer than 10 minutes even when it is right next to the router or with the 'smart' cover removed (ruling out magnetic interference which I first assumed it was related to)

Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 attempts to connect to the router even when I make the wifi publicly accessible!

I've tried to reset the network settings using General > Reset > Reset Network Settings only to have it connect then disconnect minutes later.

My router is configured to use WPA2, it's an O2 branded router but technically a Thompsom variant. I have various other devices connected via wifi with no issues at all - this is without a doubt purely an issue with iOS 5.1.1

Have same problem with upgrade to 5.1.1 on my iPhone 3GS. We updated our iPad2 to 5.1.1 (wi-fi-only, not 3G), with no problems. Both our computers still remain connected, so is not our wifi. I had my phone at another location with available wifi, and it would not find that wifi either. Googling the problem gets over 350,000 hits ("wifi lost 5.1.1 iphone upgrade" = search terms). Get a clue, Apple! It's not our equipment! Have tried rebooting, forgetting network, redoing network settings, redoing all settings, backup-and-restore. Pretty much everything except totally erasing my phone. Or getting a new one.

William Martin1 ... I am interested in trying this. But I am presented with a lot of options when I go to Sharing Prefs. Along with a warning that if i turn it on, I might disrupt the existing network and other computers. Can you note exactly which prefs you checked uner Internet Sharing? Thank you! I can't believe there still seems to be no "fix" or acknowledgement of this problem from Apple. Or maybe I'm not so surprised ...

The problem may be a wifi password communication issue. Not as in "my" password, but the ability of the iPhone to now connect to our router with our regular (or any) password. My 3G iPhone (recently updated with 5.1.1) can find and maintain wifi connection in locations where it is simply available, and no password is required. However, if a password is required (including in my home office, where our router requires one), it cannot connect to wifi. Believe me, I have triple and quadruple checked the PW, and it is correct, and all other devices are connecting fine. My clue came when I was visiting somehwere else where a PW was required to connect to wifi, and it would not connect their either, when the correct PW was entered. However, worked without on a non-password protected network. If the only fix turns out to be an unprotected (no PW) network from our home, that just ain't gonna fly!

I am having the same problem. Since upgrading iOS it has progressivly gotten worse. Now I cannot connect to or open any web areas. The iPad indicates it is connected to the router and shows a reasonably good signal. However email, web based games, and the internet will not open or run. From same location my iTouch works fine without problems. Is it possible to undo the iOS update to the previous version and see if that corrects the issue?

I also can't connect to Wi-fi after the 5.1.1 update. My ipad2 seems to not be able to "see" any networks at all. I'm in a dense urban area and there are 23 that my computer shows but the ipad sees none. When I go to Wi-fi networks, I get a little spinning grey wheel, like it's looking for a network. It did the same thing elsewhere. No joy!

I too have same ipad2 wifi issues. At first wifi was intermittent and now it won't connect to wifi at all. It was fine for 1 year on same wifi router with no setting changes etc. I tried everything - all router settings and reset ipad2 still fails. Sometimes it can see wifi but refuses to connect with the right password. I have tried it with new wifi passwords but still fails to connect. All other devices I have connect fine with all password changes and router setting changes. I put everything back to original settings and still ipad2 fails to connect. I wouldn't mind if I could go back to old ios to get it working. Anyone know how to do that to see if does the trick? Otherwise I'll be leaving Apple. I don't see why I should have to buy new ipad for their failure.
