Can you stream embedded YouTube videos to your Apple TV?

That largely depends on the webpage you are visiting, video airplay needs enabling by the developer, if it is enabled then yes you can stream it to the Apple TV from your iPad.

Add the following to your video tag

I'm sorry you have already pushed my knowledge to the limit with websites, but I think your HTML 5 video tag should look something like.

< video src="/path/to/video.mp4" x-webkit-airplay="allow" preload controls>< /video>

I'll see if I can get you some better help.

Strangely, and I'm not near an iPad to test for consistency, the last YouTube link I clicked in Safari launched the YouTube app by default, so that could be a sticking point.

To me it would seem more lilely than 'instantly airplaying' from a link would be more down to invoking part of the iOS API for Airplay than HTML coding, though that would presumably need the HTML code WC mentions to allow that resource to Airplay if Airplay was invoke manually or automatically.

I can't be certain but I think that a recent update may have enabled HTML 5 content by default for video airplay. This, if the case, still doesn't apply to non-HTML 5 content or older iOS operating systems.
