Waves Renaissance Compressor Bad News...

I just got off the telly with Waves tech support. According to the tech, the
Renaissance compressor doesn't work on midi instrument plug-ins. What
I've found is. It works to an extent. You have to do everything by ear because
the gain reduction meter is inaccurate. On audio tracks however it's brilliant.
Anyone know of any good compressors that work well with midi instruments?
Thanx

If he's talking about software instruments I'm kind of surprised because I have seen no difference between how RC works with Soft Instruments and Audio Tracks. I still can't reproduce the behavior of the gain reduction meter you cited in your last thread when inserting on an audio instrument track. Anyone else had any dificulty with RC on instrument tracks? We don't want to give Waves a bad rap here.

Hi Tele Player,
Im not sure how this is happening. But Im sure that it is happening. When you
load the Renaissance compressor on a third party plug-in instrument. Fisrt look
at the the threshold. You'll notice that even at 0.0db the gain reduction meter
shows attenuation. When you load the R compressor on an audio, or an internal Logic instrument with the threshold at 0.0db you'll see that the gain reduction
meter shows no attenuation. For me accurate metering is cruicial. I hope they
correct this. Check it out...
